The Cleveland Browns<\/a> and the Jacksonville Jaguars<\/a> swung a blockbuster trade during the 2025 NFL Draft. At the second-overall pick, the Jaguars got aggressive and traded up for Travis Hunter.<\/p>\n

With the hope of Hunter becoming an ultra-rare two-way player in the NFL, acting as both a cornerback and wide receiver, the Jaguars sent a huge package to the Browns to make this trade happen.<\/p>\n

But, a year later, who is the winner? According to ESPN’s Seth Walder<\/a>, there is a clear winner, and it’s obvious following Hunter’s injury-shortened season and his likely transition to CB in a more full-time capacity.<\/p>\n

ESPN reveals winner of Travis Hunter trade<\/p>\n

“As of now, who won the trade? The Browns,” Walder writes. “Any time a team deals a first-round pick to move up in the draft for a non-quarterback, the deck is stacked against it in terms of its odds of winning the trade.”<\/p>\n

Before Hunter even stepped onto the field, the Browns were already the front-runners to win this trade. It’s nothing against Hunter; it’s just that to make up for the lost value, he’d need to be a Pro Bowl caliber player at both WR and CB.<\/p>\n

The Browns traded the No. 2 pick along with the 104th and 200th picks to the Browns for the No. 5 pick, along with the 36th and 126th selections in the 2025 NFL Draft to go with the 2026 first-rounder, which is 24th overall.<\/p>\n

While the 2026 first-rounder has yet to be used, the Browns have already gotten incredible production from the players they got in the trade from last year’s draft.<\/p>\n

Mason Graham looks to be a solid defensive tackle, while Quinshon Judkins looked like a star running back last year for the Browns. Add in Dylan Sampson in the fourth round at 126th overall, and the Browns got three good players in return from this deal already.<\/p>\n

If they can land a good player with the 24th pick, whether it’s a wide receiver, cornerback, offensive lineman, or some other position, this trade will be all the more lopsided in their favor.<\/p>\n

ESPN already has the Browns as winners of this trade, and depending on how the 24th pick is used, they could look like even greater winners of the 2025 trade-up for Travis Hunter.<\/p>\n
