Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce<\/a> with their reported July wedding date approaching suddenly face an unexpected wedding decision as their guest list now turns awkward. Kelce will enter his next and likely final NFL<\/a> season as a married man for the first time, after his wedding to Swift. But as the high-profile couple plan their wedding, reportedly set for July 3 in New York City<\/a>, Swift and Kelce suddenly must deal with a severely awkward problem in making up their guest list, and it centers on someone Swift once trusted most.<\/p>\n

That one name in particular, tied to a falling-out that stunned Swifties, is making the decision far more complicated than expected.<\/p>\n

The awkwardness involves actress Blake Lively, who was once one of Swift\u2019s closest friends. The famous friends met in 2015, according to a People<\/a> timeline of the relationship, and became so close that Swift agreed to be godmother to Lively\u2019s children with her husband, fellow Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds.<\/p>\n

Swift thought so highly of Lively that in 2021 she invited the Age of Adaline star to direct one of her music videos, which Lively did, for Swift\u2019s song<\/a> \u201cI Bet You Think About Me,\u201d from her album Red (Taylor\u2019s Version).<\/p>\n

After Swift began dating Kelce in 2023, and became a fixture at Chiefs\u2019 home games, Lively was frequently seen at her side at Arrowhead Stadium, rooting on Kelce and the Chiefs<\/a>. That history is exactly what now makes the wedding guest list situation so complicated.<\/p>\n

But according to media reports, the once intimate friendship suddenly went south in May 2025, when lawyers for actor\/director Justin Baldoni served the global pop music megastar<\/a> a subpoena in connection with a sexual harassment lawsuit filed against him by Lively.<\/p>\n

According to the People report, the subpoena \u201chalted\u201d the friendship between Lively and Swift, as Swift resented being dragged into the messy legal situation. Now, with her wedding approaching, Lively is still causing problems for Swift, according to an insider\u2019s report.<\/p>\n

With invitations expected soon, the couple may be forced to make a decision sooner than they want to. That\u2019s where the situation becomes much more awkward.<\/p>\n

Report: Lively Expects to be Included on Guest List<\/p>\n

The report comes from longtime entertainment industry insider Rob Shuter, who reported in his Naughty But Nice<\/a> newsletter on Wednesday that Lively remains \u201csure\u201d that her invitation to the Swift-Kelce wedding is on its way.<\/p>\n

\u201cBlake is totally optimistic,\u201d an exclusive source told Shuter. \u201cShe\u2019s acting like the invite is already in the mail.<\/p>\n

She keeps going back to the beginning. She was around when Taylor and Travis first got together. She feels like part of their story.\u201d<\/p>\n

Whether the invitations to the Swift-Kelce wedding have gone out to prospective guests yet remains unclear. The sports-music power couple has successfully kept a tight lid on leaks about their wedding plans. But according to a report by New York Post Page Six last week<\/a>, \u201csave the date\u201d notes have, in fact, been sent to prospective guests.<\/p>\n

\u201cSave the Date\u201d notices usually precede actual invitations. Whether Lively has received a \u201cSave the Date\u201d was not mentioned by Shuter\u2019s sources.<\/p>\n

Swift and Kelce Now in Awkward Situation With Lively<\/p>\n

From the Shuter report, it appears that Lively remains uncertain whether she will be invited, indicating that she has not received a notice for her to \u201csave the date.\u201d But the 38-year-old actress remains highly confident that her invitation is in the mail, or soon will be, despite the fact that by allowing her desire to attend to become public, she puts Swift and Kelce into an awkward situation.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s a lot of baggage right now,\u201d Shuter\u2019s source told the entertainment reporter. \u201cAnd Taylor is being incredibly careful about her guest list.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nonetheless, Lively \u201ctruly believes she\u2019ll be there,\u201d and is \u201cnot even considering the alternative,\u201d the insider source told Shuter.<\/p>\n

With the wedding date approaching, the Swift-Kelce couple may not be able to avoid making their decision on a Lively invite much longer.<\/p>\n
