Notre Dame running back Jadarian Price. <\/p>\n
While it might seem like a bad idea on the surface, it\u2019s important to look at the possibility of the Denver Broncos<\/a> drafting a running back in the 2nd round in a row, not for the drama it might cause but for the benefits it might bring.<\/p>\n Just take how 2025 played out as the prime example.<\/p>\n The Broncos were only getting better when starting running back J.K. Dobbins<\/a> went down with a season-ending foot injury after 10 games, and were left with a rookie and 2025 2nd round pick RJ Harvey<\/a> the rest of the way.<\/p>\n Imagine if the Broncos had still had 2 high-producing running backs down the stretch instead of just 1? Maybe they wind up in the Super Bowl?<\/p>\n That\u2019s part of why NFL.com\u2019s Chad Reuter<\/a> predicted the Broncos will draft a running back in the 2nd round for the 2nd year in a row, with Notre Dame\u2019s Jadarian Price in the 2nd round at No. 62 overall.<\/p>\n Jadarian Price \u2018Forgotten\u2019 Irish Running Back<\/p>\n There has been no shortage of stories about Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love, who has been projected as a Top 5 pick. Just not so many about Price.<\/p>\n That\u2019s too bad, because Price has shown a unique skill for helping his team in any way he can, which could benefit the Broncos in some pretty big ways.<\/p>\n NFL draft analyst Lance Zierlein<\/a> compared Price to another former Broncos running back also picked in the 2nd round in his pre-draft evaluation \u2014 current Dallas Cowboys<\/a> star Javonte Williams<\/a>.<\/p>\n Williams was a 2nd round pick (No. 35 overall) by the Broncos in the 2021 NFL<\/a> draft. In 2025, Williams had career highs across the board with 1,201 rushing yards, 13 touchdowns, and 4.8 yards per carry. Williams played on a 1-year, $3 million contract last season and signed a 3-year, $24 million contract on February 19.<\/p>\n \u201c(Price) is a tempo-driven back with smooth hips, elite vision and a nose for the end zone,\u201d Zierlein wrote \u201cPrice is a more natural runner than his heralded teammate, Jeremiyah Love, but Price lacks Love\u2019s pure explosiveness and pass-catching talent. Price is highly instinctive, stacking moves to contour to run-lane spacing and avoid tacklers for as long as possible. He moves like a zone back but has average downhill burst for a one-cut runner. Price is an average run finisher, but he has the leg strength and contact balance to carry on when hits aren\u2019t flush. His feel for finding the right path is rare and helps bolster his touchdown totals. Limited third-down value could cap his draft slotting, but his talent as a runner should make him an excellent complementary back.\u201d<\/p>\n Price Could Fill Multiple Roles on Broncos<\/p>\n Price had to battle back from a torn Achilles tendon his freshman year at Notre Dame, and when he returned, he had to take a backseat to Love. He still found a way to make a name for himself.<\/p>\n On special teams, Price scored 3 touchdowns on 22 career kickoff returns.
