BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) \u2014 A skydiver crashed into the Lane Stadium scoreboard before Virginia Tech\u2019s spring football game Saturday.<\/p>\n
Virginia Tech officials<\/a> said on X that the skydiver \u201cwas safely secured and is currently stable\u201d following rescue efforts. The incident caused a delay in the start of the spring game.<\/p>\n The name of the skydiver wasn\u2019t released.<\/p>\n \u201cOur primary focus remains on their well-being,\u201d Virginia Tech officials said in a statement. \u201cWe extend our sincere appreciation to the first responders, event staff, and medical personnel for their swift, coordinated and professional response.\u201d<\/p>\n Virginia Tech later put out a statement on X<\/a> saying that the \u201cquick actions\u201d of first responders had \u201csafely returned today\u2019s parachuter to the ground without injury.\u201d<\/p>\n Video footage showed the skydiver\u2019s parachute landing between the \u201cC\u201d and the \u201cH\u201d on the Virginia Tech lettering on top of the scoreboard before first responders rescued him.<\/p>\n The Blacksburg Fire Department didn\u2019t immediately respond to a voicemail seeking details on the incident.<\/p>\n ___<\/p>\n AP college football: https:\/\/apnews.com\/hub\/ap-top-25-college-football-poll<\/a> and https:\/\/apnews.com\/hub\/college-football<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"BLACKSBURG, Va.
