{"id":869845,"date":"2026-04-19T11:03:25","date_gmt":"2026-04-19T11:03:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/869845\/"},"modified":"2026-04-19T11:03:25","modified_gmt":"2026-04-19T11:03:25","slug":"three-current-browns-players-who-could-lose-their-jobs-on-draft-night","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/869845\/","title":{"rendered":"Three Current Browns Players Who Could Lose Their Jobs on Draft Night"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"inline-text-0\" class=\"mt-[18px] md:mt-0 mb-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-secondary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"6i\">The Cleveland Browns have the NFL Draft to look forward to next week, with plenty of questions to answer about who they\u2019ll select with their first-round picks.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-1\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-secondary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"6l\">Not only do they have to decide who they want to draft, they\u2019ll also face serious decisions this offseason regarding starters who could be in jeopardy of losing their jobs.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-2\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-secondary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"6o\">There\u2019s no question the two most important positions to address in the draft are wide receiver and offensive tackle, so their two premium first-round picks are exactly where they can target those needs.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-3\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-secondary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"6r\">While <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/story\/_\/id\/48080244\/cleveland-browns-2026-free-agency-tracker-offseason-moves-signings-contract-trades\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Cleveland did bring in a few notable free agents<\/a> to bolster their offensive line and receiver depth, the draft will be a primary tool to stock up on hopeful impact starters for next season.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-4\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-secondary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"6u\">In terms of which starters could be at risk of losing their jobs to this year\u2019s class of Browns rookies, here are a few players who might have to face the music come draft night.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Dawand Jones, Tackle<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-6\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-secondary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"70\">With the Browns&#8217; acquisition of right tackle Tytus Howard this offseason, he\u2019ll almost certainly be their starting right tackle to open the season. That was Jones\u2019 primary position with Cleveland early in his career before he shifted over to left tackle.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-7\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-secondary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"73\">Now, Jones faces a potential positional battle to earn the starting job on Cleveland\u2019s blindside if the Browns draft a lineman at either No. 6 or No. 24 overall.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-8\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-secondary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"76\">It\u2019s been reported that the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.si.com\/nfl\/browns\/onsi\/news\/cleveland-browns-could-decide-to-move-right-tackle-draft-prospects-to-blindside-01knmbq09eck\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Browns could move a right tackle prospect to their left side<\/a> heading into the summer programs, or they could draft a left tackle to avoid any position changes.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-9\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-secondary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"79\">Either way, Jones has worked back from a season-ending LCL tear suffered in 2025, so there\u2019s no certainty he\u2019ll be counted on to start as is. Jones may have to seriously impress during training camp if he wants to beat out a highly drafted lineman for the starting tackle job.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Cedric Tillman, Wide Receiver<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-11\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-secondary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"7f\">It\u2019s difficult to say how jeopardized Tillman\u2019s role in Cleveland\u2019s offense will be, but based on his performance last season, a rookie wide receiver could have no problem taking a large share of his reps in 2026.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-12\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-secondary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"7i\">Tillman caught about 50% of the passes thrown his direction last season, hauling in 21 catches on 39 targets for only 270 yards. Not to mention, his issues dropping the football have made him a difficult player to trust down the stretch.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-13\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-secondary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"7l\">There is a chance he could continue as a rotational receiver moving forward, especially if Cleveland uses their No. 6 overall pick on a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.beaconjournal.com\/story\/sports\/pro\/browns\/2026\/03\/02\/2026-nfl-mock-draft-cleveland-browns-carnell-tate\/88943746007\/?gnt-cfr=1&amp;gca-cat=p&amp;gca-uir=true&amp;gca-epti=z114340p000150l003750c000150e007700v114340d--86--b--86--&amp;gca-ft=213&amp;gca-ds=sophi\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">premium pass catcher like Ohio State\u2019s Carnell Tate<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-14\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-secondary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"7o\">Either way, his play hasn\u2019t been inspiring enough to be trusted as one of their top receiving threats, and he could be lost in Cleveland\u2019s receiver depth depending on how his training camp goes.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Myles Harden, Cornerback<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-16\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-secondary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"7u\">The Browns have relied on a solid cornerback group in recent years, but they lost two key players <a href=\"https:\/\/www.si.com\/nfl\/browns\/onsi\/browns-opinion\/trading-greg-newsome-ii-felt-like-the-wrong-move-at-the-wrong-time-01k73s71c0rx\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">after Greg Newsome&#8217;s midseason trade<\/a> and Martin Emerson&#8217;s injury before the 2025 season.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-17\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-secondary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"7x\">In stepped Myles Harden, who played in 16 games for the Browns in 2025 while serving as their third corner.
