The AJ Brown trade rumors continue to run rampant throughout New England<\/a>, particularly as the draft gets closer, and some have hoped that the Patriots won’t stop at possibly trading for their next WR1 and will also draft one, too.<\/p>\n

It’s a dream scenario that would immediately boost the receiving corps for Drake Maye to fully thrive in his third NFL season. It’s particularly important after only signing Romeo Doubs in free agency and releasing Stefon Diggs just one year into his three-year contract.<\/p>\n

Plenty of chatter suggests they could take a big swing and rather than select their next pass rusher, they pick a wide receiver, with most eyeing Washington’s Denzel Boston at No. 31<\/a>.<\/p>\n

There are some solid Day 2 options for Mike Vrabel and Eliot Wolf to choose from, as well, many of whom Patriots fans have already taken a liking to. But team insider Greg Bedard isn’t so sure that it will happen, as he doesn’t envision the Patriots trading for Brown and drafting a receiver, at least not in the first round.<\/p>\n

Don’t anticipate the Patriots going all-in on boosting their receiver room to the next level<\/p>\n

Bedard shot down the idea while speaking to Nick Cattles on his podcast this past week, essentially telling Patriots fans to move on from the possibility of it becoming a reality.<\/p>\n

.@GregABedard<\/a> on the Patriots looking at WR’s in the draft and how that could impact a potential deal for A.J. Brown:<\/p>\n

“If the Patriots draft a wide receiver at 31, arguably also in the second round, I think that takes them out of A.J. Brown.”<\/p>\n

Although his argument makes a lot of sense, since Doubs is considered a strong No. 2, there are plenty of teams across the league with two superstar receivers on offense, and they make it work, just as the Patriots could do this year.<\/p>\n

It’s not something that should be completely out of the question, even if it doesn’t seem like the likeliest scenario, since most analysts believe they’ll use their first rounder on a defensive end<\/a>.<\/p>\n

But it shouldn’t be completely ruled out either, since Wolf has already said that they want to take the best player available when they’re on the clock. There’s a chance that a wide receiver fits in that category at No. 31, and it could become too difficult to pass on that talent.<\/p>\n

Of course, we won’t know until April 23 when the draft kicks off, and surely, whatever the Patriots decide to do will get a strong reaction from the fanbase, positively or otherwise.<\/p>\n
