Others point to his struggles in both 2023 and 2024 as indisputable evidence that he is no NFL quarterback. But here we are, facing 2026, and the former two-time NCAA National Champion quarterback has not only stuck around, but he is the only quarterback option on the roster. <\/a><\/p>\n How could Los Angeles have let this happen? Well, nobody let it happen. The front office and coaching staff forced Bennett to re-establish himself as a player with promise. He’s had to earn respect and his place on the roster. So that’s just what he did.<\/p>\n LA Rams may plan a larger role for Stetson Bennett in 2026<\/p>\n LA had been forced into the corner after winning Super Bowl LVI. The team realized that undrafted backup quarterbacks were limited in how well they could deliver under pressure, even for one or two games. And so, the team began a revolving door of signing tarnished veterans, restoring their reputation, and repeating the process.<\/p>\n Los Angeles reintroduced the NFL to quarterbacks Baker Mayfield, Carson Wentz, and even Jimmy Garoppolo. But after four seasons of polishing the tarnish off veteran quarterbacks, perhaps the team is ready to take a leap of faith into the unknown of a rookie prospect. <\/p>\n General manager Les Snead loves to zig whenever 31 other NFL GMs are zagging. The word about town is that this year’s draft is sorely lacking in rookie quarterback talent. The thing is, LA’s coaching staff has been constructed to manufacture NFL-caliber quarterbacks<\/a>. And the team has proven successful in doing so by Stetson Bennett’s 2025 preseason performance. <\/p>\n Is this the year that the team abandons veterans and invests in younger talent? While it’s not too late to add quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo to the roster, the lack of progress in doing so forces fans to consider all options. Right now, Stetson Beenett is the obvious answer that nobody wants to talk about. <\/p>\n Is Bennett good enough to back up Matthew Stafford? We’ll never know the answer until LA affords him the opportunity.
