For months, the San Francisco 49ers have been connected to wide receiver KC Concepcion<\/a> as a potential target in Round 1 of the 2026 NFL Draft. Concepcion recently made a plea to NFL GMs in a piece in the Players’ Tribune<\/a> and made a bold claim.<\/p>\n

Concepcion wrote: “I\u2019m the best receiver in this draft. Period.\u00a0I run crisp routes. I catch everything thrown anywhere near me. I work my tail off every practice, every drill. I get in and out of my breaks fast. And I will outwork ANYBODY you put in front of me.”<\/p>\n

The Texas A&M product is clearly not lacking in the confidence department so maybe the 49ers will like that swagger and self-belief.<\/p>\n

Concepcion also details his struggles with a stutter he has had to overcome along with adversity he had to face while growing up. It’s an inspiring story and definitely makes him an even more compelling target for San Francisco.<\/p>\n

KC Concepcion can prove he’s not all talk if the San Francisco 49ers draft him<\/p>\n

While Concepcion believes he is the best receiver in the draft, there are many strong receivers in this year’s class. In most rankings there are usually four or five guys ahead of him<\/a> although many believe Concepcion will be off the board sometime in Round 1<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Omar Cooper Jr. is another name that has been linked to San Francisco a lot<\/a> in the lead up to the draft. The Indiana product has drawn comparisons to both Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk so if those comparisons prove to be true<\/a> he should fit in quite nicely within Kyle Shanahan’s offense.<\/p>\n

But Concepcion has some shades of Samuel as well as he’s been used as a running back at times and has proven that he is a dangerous threat in the return game.<\/p>\n

Concepcion’s speed is impressive and he could be the reliable deep threat the Niners sorely need. The team signed free agent Christian Kirk in the offseason so he figures to be a primary deep threat this season but he’s only under contract for one year. Drafting Concepcion would ensure the Niners have that threat going forward.<\/p>\n

His claim that he catches everything thrown near him is a little suspect as he had quite a few drops<\/a> in college. Plus, while his story is inspiring it’s unclear what impact a letter like that will actually have on GMs.<\/p>\n

No matter what, the guy is not lacking in confidence and his story is compelling. Pair that with his gifts on the football field and there would probably be a lot of 49ers fans thrilled if the team lands him in Round 1.<\/p>\n
