The Arizona Cardinals<\/a> should be a team to watch during the 2026 NFL Draft<\/a>. Arizona holds the third overall pick and could go in several different directions with that selection. One NFL insider reported that the best running back in the 2026 draft class<\/a> could be in play for the Cardinals.<\/p>\n

ESPN’s Adam Schefter gave an update<\/a> on Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love<\/a> just days before the draft. Schefter explained that Love could be in play for Arizona at third overall.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are some who believe he could go as high as No. 3 to Arizona and no lower than No. 7 to Washington, which has been pushing to upgrade its backfield in each of the past two offseasons,\u201d Schefter wrote on Monday. \u201cThere is growing chatter in league circles that Love is truly in play at the high end of that range with Arizona.\u201d<\/p>\n

Schefter noted that Arizona’s front office would prefer to trade down<\/a> and gain more draft capital. But if they stick and pick at three, Love could be the pick.<\/p>\n

\u201cIdeally, the Cardinals would like to find a team willing to trade up so they can acquire more picks, and there have already been \u201cexploratory\u201d calls, as one source described it, regarding the No. 3 selection,\u201d Schefter added. \u201cBut if the Cardinals hold on to their pick, some around the league believe they could pull an early draft surprise and select Love in a slot slightly higher than he has been projected to go.\u201d<\/p>\n

If the Cardinals do pass on Love, Schefter declared that he would not fall far. The Commanders at pick seven are widely viewed to be the floor for Love at the top of the draft.<\/p>\n

It will be exciting to see what Arizona does during the first round of the draft.<\/p>\n
