Well, in an appearance on his namesake podcast, ESPN Senior NFL Insider Adam Schefter commented on just that, noting that he could see the Chiefs being interested in Oregon tight end Kenyon Sadiq as their long-term Travis Kelce replacement.

“Could the Chiefs take Oregon tight end Kenyon Sadiq? Could they take the successor to Travis Kelce and get some speed and play-making ability in that offense?” Schefter asked. “They’re always looking for more tight ends. He’s the best tight end in the draft. I know we think about all these other players and positions, but I keep coming back to that in my mind. Nobody has brought that up to me, but to me, that’s the first potential landing spot for Kenyan Sadiq.”

With Kelce already signed on to return for 2026 at minimum, the Chiefs really don’t have to take a tight end in the top-10, using their pick on a more pressing player like Francis Mauigoa or Jordyn Tyson to instantly upgrade a position of weakness heading into the fall. But if the board breaks in such a way that Sadiq is the best player available, would the Chiefs pass on the collegiate Duck just because of the position he plays? In Schefter’s opinion, that answer might just be no.

With two selections in the first 29 picks of the 2026 NFL Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs have a chance to seriously upgrade their roster as they look to get back to the Super Bowl with a healthy Patrick Mahomes under center.

With two selections in the first 29 picks of the 2026 NFL Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs have…

[2063
346,7,118,110,2438,2437,28626,6,15,500
0":"post-871065","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-kansas-city-chiefs","8":"tag-chiefs","9":"tag-football","10":"tag-kansas-city","11":"tag-kansas-city-chiefs","12":"tag-kansascity","13":"tag-kansascitychiefs","14":"tag-kenyon-sadiq","15":"tag-nfl","16":"tag-nfl-draft","17":"tag-travis-kelce
["GET
