Avieon Terrell is the perfect choice

The countdown is almost done, Tiger fans. This Thursday night in Pittsburgh, the 2026 NFL Draft finally arrives, and it’s got all the makings of a banner weekend for the Clemson faithful. We’ve seen T.J. Parker and Blake Miller prove they belong in the first-round conversation, but the real electricity is building around two Orange-clad defenders who are being called tailor-made for the NFL.

USA TODAY Sports’ Ayrton Ostly just put it in black and white: defensive tackle Peter Woods and cornerback Avieon Terrell are the missing pieces for NFL teams hungry to join the league’s elite. That’s the kind of respect Clemson defenders have earned.

The Anchor in Buffalo

For Peter Woods, the destination could be Orchard Park. While some mock drafts have Woods sliding slightly into the early second round, others—like CBS Sports and Yahoo Sports—see him going as high as No. 22 to the Chargers. However, the Buffalo Bills represent a match made in heaven for the man who lived in opposing backfields while in the Upstate.

“Buffalo’s secondary could use some help, but adding another young body up front could lift the unit’s floor as a whole,” Ostly noted regarding the fit. “Woods is similarly sized to Ed Oliver and T.J. Sanders with plenty of potential that he flashed in Clemson that made him a potential top-five prospect coming into 2025. He could work out the holes in his game in a rotational role early before developing into a star later on.”

Can the Carolina Curse finally end?

Here’s the wildest stat you’ll hear all week: the Carolina Panthers have never drafted a Clemson Tiger. Not once in 31 years. It defies all logic, especially with Clemson’s pipeline just down the road. But Avieon Terrell might be the one to finally break that streak and bring some Orange to Charlotte.

Ostly says it plain: the younger Terrell is the missing spark for a Panthers defense that’s been busy reloading up front. Maybe it’s time they look to Clemson for the answer.

“Carolina spent massively in free agency to bring in Jaelan Phillips and Devin Lloyd to bolster the front seven on defense,” Ostly said. “Terrell upgrades the secondary to bring it more on par with the improvements up front. He could stick outside opposite Jaycee Horn or kick inside to the slot thanks to his smaller frame. EIther way, he’d be a force in run defense with an attacking attitude.”

Thursday Night Lights, Tiger Style

The mock drafts are all over the map—some have Terrell headed to the Chiefs at 29, others see Woods joining Blake Miller in Philly—but here’s what we know: Tigertown is about to make its mark on the NFL in a big way.

It all kicks off Thursday at 8 p.m. on ABC and ESPN. Whether Woods is braving the Buffalo cold or Terrell is finally painting Charlotte in Clemson colors, one thing’s for sure: we’re about to watch our Tigers shine under the brightest lights.

Add us as a preferred source on GoogleFollow

The countdown is almost done, Tiger fans.
