They won’t be on the clock until the No. 52 overall selection in the second round.

With that being said, the Packers do have quite a few holes that still need to be filled.

At this point in time, Green Bay needs to add talent at cornerback, defensive line, and could use more pass rushing as well. Offensively, the team will need to add a backup quarterback and more running back depth. A wide receiver could make sense as well.

Keeping that in mind, the Packers could very well have an aggressive mindset entering the draft. Gutekunst has been known to be open to trading. Could Green Bay be a potential trade down candidate in the second round at No. 52?

That is a scenario being suggested with just over 24 hours remaining until the first round gets underway.

Packers Linked to Potential NFL Draft Trade With Broncos

Bill Huber of Sports Illustrated has suggested a scenario that would see the Packers trade down in the second round with the Broncos.

In his suggestion, Huber would see the No. 52 overall pick head to Denver in exchange for the No. 62 overall pick in the second round and No. 108 in the fourth round.

“I had four offers when on the clock. Three were for future picks. The one with instant gratification was from Denver, with the Packers moving back from No. 52 to No. 62 and gaining No. 108 of the fourth round,” Huber wrote.

After suggesting the potential trade, Huber came up with his ideal pick at No. 62 overall. He thinks that Iowa State defensive tackle Domonique Orange would be a solid target for Green Bay.

Needless to say, it’s an interesting idea to think about.

What Are Mock Drafts Saying About the No. 52 Pick?

ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. has the Packers taking Clemson cornerback Avieon Terrell in the second round. That would be a steal for Green Bay and would help fix the clear need in the secondary.

Jordan Reid of ESPN has the Packers staying on the defensive side of the ball, taking Penn State defensive end Dani Dennis-Sutton. NFL.com’s Chad Reuter has projected Green Bay to land cornerback Malik Muhammad.

Dane Brugler of The Athletic thinks that Penn State’s Dennis-Sutton would be the right pick as well.

It will be interesting to see what the Packers end up doing with their second-round pick. Trading down is certainly and option to keep an eye on.

Evan Massey Evan Massey is a sports reporter and analyst located in Indianapolis, Indiana who covers the NFL, NBA, MLB, WNBA, and college sports.
