{"id":871528,"date":"2026-04-22T01:24:39","date_gmt":"2026-04-22T01:24:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/871528\/"},"modified":"2026-04-22T01:24:39","modified_gmt":"2026-04-22T01:24:39","slug":"three-expert-mock-draft-first-round-picks-for-buffalo-bills-and-what-they-miss","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/871528\/","title":{"rendered":"Three Expert Mock Draft First-Round Picks for Buffalo Bills \u2014 And What They Miss"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"inline-text-0\" class=\"mt-[18px] md:mt-0 mb-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"6i\">It&#8217;s safe to assume that the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.si.com\/nfl\/bills\/onsi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Buffalo Bills<\/a>, at most, have 20 prospects with legitimate first-round grades amongst the current NFL Draft class. <\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-1\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"6l\">&#8220;You probably don&#8217;t get as many consensus names anywhere near getting to 26,&#8221; said Bills&#8217; general manager <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/7rFxxhtcQRM?si=Q9vHX-EaP1tnoSlK&amp;t=328\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Brandon Beane on Monday in Orchard Park<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-2\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"6o\">By multiple accounts, there doesn&#8217;t appear to be much variance in value between the prospects tabbed for bottom half of Round 1 and those graded in the top half of Round 2. <\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-3\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"6r\">&#8220;I think there&#8217;s players that feel like they&#8217;re going in [Round] 1, but their agent, or someone close to them, also realizes they could go anywhere from 20 to 40. There&#8217;s always players like that. I would say there&#8217;s probably maybe more in that category this year,&#8221; said Beane.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">We&#8217;re live with QB Josh Allen, GM Brandon Beane and HC Joe Brady.  <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/s1TxPf4I6x\" rel=\"nofollow\">https:\/\/t.co\/s1TxPf4I6x<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Buffalo Bills (@BuffaloBills) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BuffaloBills\/status\/2046273134022496755?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">April 20, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-5\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"6x\">While Beane didn&#8217;t offer an exact number, the football executive admitted to this year&#8217;s class coming out <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nfl.com\/news\/patriots-eliot-wolf-2026-nfl-draft-class-not-historically-great-but-strong-at-o-line-d-line-wr\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">on the lower end in terms of first-round grades<\/a> assigned by the Bills.<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-6\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"70\">&#8220;In this case, we get to pick 26, is this something we&#8217;re fired up to take the player? Or is this something we would prefer, there&#8217;ll be a player there that we like that can help us, but is it something we prefer to trade back and get that player in Round 2 while adding some additional compensation?&#8221; said Beane.<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-7\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"73\">With almost all mainstream mock drafts projecting the Bills to use the No. 26 overall selection on a player, there seems to be an underestimation of Beane&#8217;s openness to trade down for more picks. <\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-8\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"76\">Below, we examine projected Bills&#8217; first-round picks from three mainstream mock drafters. <\/p>\n<p>ESPN&#8217;s Mel Kiper Jr. \u2014 EDGE Keldric Faulk, Auburn (No. 26 overall) <\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-10\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"7c\">While <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/draft2026\/story\/_\/id\/48478995\/2026-nfl-mock-draft-mel-kiper-two-rounds-64-picks-final-predictions\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the Godfather of mock drafts<\/a> has the Bills addressing a real need at No. 26 overall, Faulk is one of those borderline first-round prospects, recently moving up two spots to No. 29 overall on NFL Media analyst <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nfl.com\/news\/daniel-jeremiah-s-top-150-prospects-in-the-2026-nfl-draft-class\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Daniel Jeremiah&#8217;s Top 150 Prospects list<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-11\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"7f\">Kiper acknowledges the possibilities of Buffalo addressing wide receiver or cornerback at this spot in Round 1, but he settles on the Bills &#8220;taking a chance on a prospect with a ton of impressive physical traits and upside.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-12\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"7i\">Will the Bills be &#8220;fired up to take&#8221; Faulk? Remember, they <a href=\"https:\/\/www.si.com\/nfl\/bills\/onsi\/comparing-trade-value-bills-dj-moore-broncos-jaylen-waddle-free-agency\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">gave up their Round 2 pick<\/a> for wide receiver DJ Moore is a pre-free agency trade. <\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-16\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"82\">While <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nfl.com\/news\/seven-round-2026-nfl-mock-draft-round-one\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Reuter rationally suggests<\/a> that &#8220;Concepcion&#8217;s ability to make plays after the catch puts a big smile on Josh Allen&#8217;s face heading into training camp,&#8221; there&#8217;s an argument to be made that the WR selection lacks value at this point in Round 1. Maybe, Buffalo is better off waiting until Round 3 for a wide receiver prospect on the level of Connecticut&#8217;s Skyler Bell, who we wrote about when <a href=\"https:\/\/www.si.com\/nfl\/bills\/onsi\/draft-wr-bills-witness-skyler-bell-boost-stock-uconn-pro-day\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">the Bills attended his Pro Day<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/01kps9mfkq9y1c0n3svv.jpg\" alt=\"KC Concepcion\" title=\"KC Concepcion\" width=\"3863\" height=\"3863\" class=\"undefined w-full w-full blur-[5px]\" q:id=\"8c\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Feb 28, 2026; Indianapolis, IN, USA; Texas A&amp;M wideout KC Concepcion (WO16) during the NFL Scouting Combine at Lucas Oil Stadium.  | Kirby Lee-Imagn Images<\/p>\n<p>CBS Sports&#8217; Jonathan Jones \u2014 EDGE Malachi Lawrence, UCF (No. 26 overall)<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-19\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"8j\">We wrote about Lawrence being mocked to the Bills at No. 28 overall after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.si.com\/nfl\/bills\/onsi\/draft-what-happens-if-bills-trade-down-mapping-every-realistic-scenario-2026\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">trading down two spots<\/a> in a projection by The Athletic&#8217;s Joe Buscaglia. It fills a hole, but Buffalo <a href=\"https:\/\/www.si.com\/nfl\/bills\/onsi\/draft-bills-potential-best-case-scenario-involves-trading-down-filling-need-cj-allen\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">may be able to trade down even further<\/a> and still have access to Lawrence or a comparable player. <\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-20\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"8m\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/nfl\/draft\/news\/nfl-insider-2026-mock-draft-what-were-hearing-around-the-league\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;incredibly explosive&#8221; Lawrence<\/a> has better measurables than Texas A&amp;M&#8217;s Cashius Howell, but doesn&#8217;t appear to be as polished at this point.
