What takes three days could be done in a handful of hours if the league really wanted to. They shouldn\u2019t; the spectacle is enjoyable. But we can at least acknowledge that it\u2019s silly.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">And a good deal of that silliness is kayfabe \u2014 stagecraft we\u2019ve all agreed to accept. One of my favorite bits of this stagecraft is how every team seems to get exactly the players they wanted exactly when they thought they would get them. Almost nobody ever deviates from their board (or, at least, nobody admits that they do), and everyone\u2019s favorite prospect happens to be on the board when they\u2019re ready to pick. It\u2019s uncanny!<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">I also enjoy how nobody ever picks for need, just value. \u201cWe trusted the board\u201d is the law of the land. The board just always happens to point teams toward what they happen to need. Again, it\u2019s uncanny!<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Kidding aside, it was refreshing to hear Brian Gutekunst <a href=\"https:\/\/packerswire.usatoday.com\/story\/sports\/nfl\/packers\/2026\/04\/21\/packers-gm-acknowledges-need-to-add-cornerbacks-in-2026-draft\/89720037007\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">openly address the Packers need for cornerback help<\/a> in his pre-draft press conference this week. It would have been disingenuous to do anything other than that. Everyone knows the Packers need corners. They\u2019ve needed cornerback help since the moment they signed Nate Hobbs a little over a year ago.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Saying it out loud isn\u2019t disclosing some state secret. Every other team on the Packers\u2019 schedule certainly knows cornerback is a weakness (just ask the Chicago Bears!). Sure, it breaks some of the illusion, but we\u2019re all adults. There\u2019s plenty of other draft-related silliness we can embrace this weekend.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">If the Packers look to target their biggest needs, these would be some great options.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">If Brian Gutekunst wants to move around, he has a little flexibility.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">The Packers\u2019 best lineman is on his way back to full health after successful surgery.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">If the Packers add a linebacker, here are some Day 2 options.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">The draft could go plenty of different ways for the Packers.
