A great Green Bay Packers<\/a> mystery has been revealed. With the 2026 NFL<\/a> Draft set to take place over the next few days, teams have been hosting players for visits in their facilities, for meetings and private workouts. All to get to know these prospects better and help them decide which players to draft. The deadline for these visits ended last Wednesday.<\/p>\n Last week, Packers insider Bill Huber reported that Green Bay hosted a quarterback prospect for ones of these visits (often called Top 30 visits, as even though they might not be the top 30 players on a team\u2019s board, they are allowed up to 30 of them). The former third-round pick by the Titans<\/a> out of Liberty filled an important role for the Packers over the last two seasons, filling in for Jordan Love<\/a> at times and guiding Green Bay to some important wins.<\/p>\n Huber believes the Packers might be chasing a similar skillset with their mystery quarterback<\/a>: Virginia Tech\u2019s Kyron Drones. A transfer from Baylor, Drones spent three seasons in Blacksburg and while the numbers don\u2019t jump off the page, he provides an intriguing skillset.<\/p>\n In his article, Huber points out that Drones has almost identical measurements to Willis and a similar size\/speed profile. He\u2019s a true dual threat at the quarterback position, capable of beating defenses with his arm or his legs. While the Hokies didn\u2019t always provide Drones with competent offensive infrastructure, Drones was still able to produce and flash some high-end upside.<\/p>\n Love is the established starter in Green Bay \u2014 this visit wasn\u2019t about finding a challenger for the Utah State product. Instead, the Packers are likely looking for a Willis replacement, in role if not skillset. Drones has a chance to provide that without requiring a significant draft investment as a projected seventh-round pick or undrafted free agent.<\/p>\n The Packers Will Look to Add Reinforcements on Defense in the Draft<\/p>\n Thanks to the Micah Parsons<\/a> trade, the Packers don\u2019t have a first-round pick in 2026 (or 2027, for that matter). But defense is still expected to be the top priority when they are on the clock in the second round.<\/p>\n Specifically, the Packers could look to address their pass rush. Even after acquiring Parsons, the depth there is a little thin in Green Bay, and their pass rush became ineffective after Parsons went down with a torn ACL late in the season.<\/p>\n Some second-round edge rusher options for the Packers include Tennessee\u2019s Joshua Josephs, Auburn\u2019s Keyron Crawford, Western Michigan\u2019s Nadame Tucker, and Illinois\u2019 Gabe Jacas.
