The Los Angeles Rams<\/a> are coming into the 2026 NFL Draft with the No. 13 overall draft pick, thanks to the Atlanta Falcons<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In the NFL Draft, the Rams have often been linked to wide receivers with their first-round pick. But, there’s another position worth keeping an eye on: quarterback. Specifically, Ty Simpson.<\/p>\n

According to ESPN’s Dan Graziano<\/a>, it’s an “open secret” around the NFL that the Rams like Simpson. But, would they take him at No. 13 overall? It’s not likely, but it’s also not impossible, according to Graziano.<\/p>\n

“It’s an open secret that they like him.” Graziano writes. “When they still had the No. 29 pick, they seemed like the team to watch for Simpson. But since No. 13 feels too soon to take him, that talk has quieted down.”<\/p>\n

The Rams’ interest in Simpson is real, and had they not made the Trent McDuffie trade, Simpson might be strongly linked to the Rams with the No. 29 pick in the draft.<\/p>\n

But, with the 13th pick, Simpson doesn’t seem to be an option. As Graziano writes, “Unlikely, but again, this is a tough team to predict.”<\/p>\n

While the Rams have interest in Simpson, and adding a quarterback who could be the heir apparent for Matthew Stafford isn’t a bad idea, the Rams might be better off waiting until Day 2 or 3 for such a player.<\/p>\n

Drew Allar or Garrett Nussmeier in the third round or later might be a better pick than Simpson, especially if it comes at pick No. 13.<\/p>\n

The Rams could also trade down in the draft, pick up more capital in the mid-rounds or in 2027, and use the pick they traded down for to take Simpson.<\/p>\n

There’s been plenty of buzz about the Simpson and Rams connection, but this reporting from Graziano is the strongest the two have been linked this offseason.<\/p>\n

The fact that Graziano isn’t ruling out the 13th pick to be Simpson is as fascinating as it is concerning. For an all-in team, drafting a backup QB at 13th overall would be an odd move. But such a selection cannot be ruled out just yet.<\/p>\n
