{"id":872169,"date":"2026-04-22T20:42:17","date_gmt":"2026-04-22T20:42:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/872169\/"},"modified":"2026-04-22T20:42:17","modified_gmt":"2026-04-22T20:42:17","slug":"packers-predicted-to-acquire-underwhelming-33-million-colts-qb-to-compete-with-jordan-love","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/872169\/","title":{"rendered":"Packers predicted to acquire underwhelming $33 million Colts QB to compete with Jordan Love"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Losing Malik Willis in free agency unquestionably puts more pressure on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportingnews.com\/us\/nfl\/green-bay-packers\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Green Bay Packers<\/a> to add a quarterback capable of giving Jordan Love a run for his money in training camp.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/nfl\/news\/nfl-draft-2026-trade-scenarios\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">CBS Sports\u2019 John Breech <\/a>is under the impression that an underwhelming <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportingnews.com\/us\/nfl\/indianapolis-colts\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Indianapolis Colts<\/a> signal-caller could be that guy, prompting him to send him to the Packers for a 2026 fifth-round pick in his recent trade idea.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Packers have two fifth-round picks, and if they can use one of those to acquire (Anthony) Richardson, then this deal would make a lot of sense for Green Bay,\u201d Breech wrote Tuesday. \u201cColts general manager Chris Ballard didn&#8217;t close the door on a possible Richardson return in 2026, but a trade still feels more likely.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Packers need to find a suitable backup for Jordan Love, and although they could look to take someone in the draft, making a trade for Richardson might actually have a higher upside. Under LaFleur&#8217;s tutelage, Richardson could potentially turn into a quality NFL quarterback.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>An offseason split would do wonders for Richardson as he attempts to prove he can be a productive NFL quarterback.
