An offseason of change for the Arizona Cardinals<\/a> could lead to a new dawn in the desert. New head coach Mike LaFleur has arrived ready to overhaul not only the Cardinals’ offense, but the team as a whole. An influx of talent is needed to bolster Arizona’s chances for not only the 2026 campaign but the future as well. With the third overall selection in the upcoming NFL Draft<\/a>, taking the best player available should be the call for the Cards. Luckily, team beat writer Josh Weinfuss predicted that GM Monti Ossenfort and his staff would do just that in ESPN’s latest mock draft. Weinfuss shared his predicted draft pick,<\/a> Ohio State’s Arvell Reese, via X, formerly Twitter.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a classic case of taking the best player available,\u201d remarked Weinfuss. \u201cArizona has other needs they can address, but in Reese, the Cardinals have a player that can make an instant impact.\u201d<\/p>\n

Across the board, the Cardinals need more impact players.<\/a> If Reese hits his ceiling, there’s a good chance that the former Buckeye makes an impact similar to Green Bay Packers star Micah Parsons. That’s a pretty good comparison. Adding Reese to a younger defense that features rising contributors like the cornerback duo of Will Johnson and Denzel Burke, plus one of the best safeties in football with Budda Baker, would be an excellent decision.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the buzz for Notre Dame’s Jeremiyah Love to join the Cardinals<\/a> has also grown. Arizona does have veteran James Conner has its lead back. Yet, he’s dealt with injuries throughout his career. Love would be a massive addition in his own right, allowing LaFleur to build his offense around a dynamic threat out of the backfield. Whether it’s Reese, Love or another top prospect, one thing is certain: the Cardinals can use all the help it can get to climb out of the NFC West cellar this fall.<\/p>\n
