Paige Shiver said former University of Michigan football coach Sherrone Moore \u201chad complete control over me\u201d in an interview set to air Friday on Good Morning America, marking her first public appearance since Moore\u2019s high-profile firing and sentencing<\/a>, ABC said Thursday.<\/p>\n

In excerpts released by the network on Thursday, Shiver said Moore controlled \u201cmy emotions, my career \u2026 and he knew that, and he used it against me\u201d.<\/p>\n

Shiver, who was Moore\u2019s executive assistant at Michigan<\/a>, is speaking publicly for the first time since the case that led to Moore\u2019s dismissal in December and his sentencing this month. Moore, then 39, was fired for what the university said was an \u201cinappropriate relationship with a staff member\u201d, then arrested shortly after following an altercation at Shiver\u2019s apartment.<\/p>\n

Moore was sentenced on 14 April to 18 months\u2019 probation after resolving charges tied to the incident, according to court records. The case included a felony count of third-degree home invasion and misdemeanor charges of trespassing and malicious use of a telecommunications device. He avoided jail time and must undergo mental health treatment, abstain from alcohol and have no contact with Shiver.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors said Moore sent repeated unwanted communications after Shiver attempted to end contact and reported their relationship to the university. Police said he later went to her apartment, where he allegedly threatened self-harm.<\/p>\n

In the interview excerpts, Shiver described repeated attempts to leave. \u201cEvery time I tried to pull away, every time I tried to try and get out of even Michigan, he always had a story, always had a way to pull me in and making me feel that I couldn\u2019t leave him because he was so miserable without me,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

In a statement issued through her attorneys after the sentencing, Shiver said the punishment did \u201cnot reflect the harm done to me or the objective evidence in this case\u201d.<\/p>\n
