Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Liam Coen had an actual dream come true during the 2026 NFL draft. <\/p>\n
Speaking to reporters after Day 2 of the draft on Friday, Coen explained he dreamed that the Jaguars landed Texas A&M tight end Nate Boerkircher\u00a0at some point. <\/p>\n
It turns out that point was the No. 56 overall pick because the Jaguars used it to select Boerkircher, fulfilling Coen’s fantasy of having him on their roster. <\/p>\n
This was apparently a dream that Coen made public because before he started speaking, Jaguars general manager James Gladstone encouraged him to share the vision he had. <\/p>\n
Coen had some extra time to drift off because the Jaguars didn’t go on the clock until Friday. They traded their first-round pick to the Cleveland Browns last year to move up and select Travis Hunter. <\/p>\n
Tight end didn’t stand out as an immediate need for Jacksonville. Brenton Strange had a breakout year in 2025 with 540 yards and three touchdowns, finishing third on the team in both categories. <\/p>\n
Strange will be entering the final year of his rookie contract in 2026, and more teams have employed multiple tight-end sets<\/a> as part of their offensive philosophy, so Coen is in floating on air now that he can enter the fray. <\/p>\n
