Add another joint practice to the list for the Houston Texans<\/a> entering training camp.<\/p>\n

According to the Houston Chronicle’s Jonathan M. Alexander, the Texans will meet up for a joint battle with the Detroit Lions<\/a> ahead of their preseason matchup in August at Ford Field. Houston will now have two joint practices this preseason, including one against the Carolina Panthers<\/a> at NRG Stadium ahead of the August 16 showdown.<\/p>\n

Texans coach DeMeco Ryans confirmed the report following the first day of voluntary OTA workouts.<\/p>\n

“We get to do it in a competitive environment where you’re not getting down on the quarterbacks,” Ryans said Wednesday. “It’s the safest way. I feel like we can get really good work for our starters. I’m excited to go up against the Lions.”<\/p>\n

Houston and Detroit met on primetime last November for a Week 10 showdown at NRG Stadium. Jared Goff tossed five interceptions, but C.J. Stroud’s two costly turnovers in the second elevated the Lions to a 26-23 victory on Sunday Night Football.<\/p>\n

The Texans last year hosted a joint practice with the Los Angeles Rams<\/a> ahead of their final preseason showdown. The year before, Houston hosted a pair of joint practices against the Miami Dolphins<\/a> ahead of the matchup at NRG Stadium.<\/p>\n

The Texans also have preseason matchups against the Minnesota Vikings<\/a> on the road, though nothing is scheduled for a one-day practice between the two sides.<\/p>\n

Houston begins the regular season on the road against the Los Angeles Rams<\/a> at SoFi Stadium on Sept. 7.<\/p>\n
