Reports indicated <a href=\"https:\/\/www.49erswebzone.com\/articles\/199804-49ers-evans-turned-bigger-buccaneers\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Evans turned down a more lucrative offer from his former team<\/a> to join San Francisco, a decision that surprised many around the league.<\/p>\n<p>The Buccaneers were stunned by the decision but ultimately respected Evans&#8217; choice to continue his career elsewhere.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was a huge loss,&#8221; Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles said this week on The Rich Eisen Show. &#8220;Everybody felt it\u2014somebody that&#8217;s been with the organization forever and holds all the records offensively.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;And the presence he had on and off the field to all the guys on the team, that was a big blow from that standpoint, but we understand. He got himself in a position to make that type of decision, and we had to respect that as well.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Bowles added that the organization still holds Evans in high regard, emphasizing the mutual respect between the star receiver and his former team.<\/p>\n<p>In San Francisco, Evans joins a revamped receiving corps undergoing significant offseason turnover. The departures of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/J\/JennJa00.htm\" data-playername=\"Jauan Jennings\" title=\"Jauan Jennings stats\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Jauan Jennings<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/B\/BourKe00.htm\" data-playername=\"Kendrick Bourne\" title=\"Kendrick Bourne stats\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Kendrick Bourne<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/M\/MoorSk01.htm\" data-playername=\"Skyy Moore\" title=\"Skyy Moore stats\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Skyy Moore<\/a>, and eventually, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/A\/AiyuBr00.htm\" data-playername=\"Brandon Aiyuk\" title=\"Brandon Aiyuk stats\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Brandon Aiyuk<\/a>, have opened the door for new additions.<\/p>\n<p>Over 12 NFL seasons, Evans has totaled 13,052 receiving yards and 108 touchdowns.
