Simpson was expected to be a first-round pick in this year\u2019s draft, but no one expected that he would go as high as No. 13.<\/p>\n
The Rams were always seen as a landing spot for him, but it seemed more likely that they would trade back or trade up into the back end of the first round to get him.<\/p>\n
Instead, they stuck in their spot and ensured no other team would steal Simpson away from them.<\/p>\n
The Rams are an ideal landing spot for Simpson, as he can sit behind Matthew Stafford and learn from him until the future Hall of Famer is ready to retire.<\/p>\n
He can hone his skills from one of the best to ever play quarterback before taking the reigns in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n
Simpson didn\u2019t have bad production in college either, passing for 3,567 yards with 28 touchdowns and five interceptions.<\/p>\n
However, he only had one year of starting experience, making it even better than he can sit and learn behind Stafford.<\/p>\n
Simpson is confident in his ability to one day lead the Rams, and the team will certainly be hoping that confidence translates to success a few years down the road.<\/p>\n
