It was far too easy for opposing offenses to push the ball down the field against the three-time Super Bowl champions, forcing the franchise\u2019s offense to work overtime to improve its odds of success.<\/p>\n

WUSA9\u2019s David Harrison<\/a> believes that signing a former Dallas Cowboys<\/a> star defender could be the answer to the Commanders\u2019 defensive problems.<\/p>\n

\u201cTrevon Diggs<\/a> brings elite upside and massive questions to the secondary,\u201d Harrison wrote last Thursday.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile Peters added several new young players to his roster over the draft weekend, he did not spend any of his six picks on a defensive back, leaving Trey Amos<\/a>, Mike Sainristil<\/a>, Amik Robertson<\/a>, and Ahkello Witherspoon<\/a> as the four cornerbacks likely to make the team\u2019s 53-man roster when the time comes.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cTrevon Diggs is a 27-year-old cornerback free agent who Commanders head coach Dan Quinn knows well from their days with the Dallas Cowboys. Diggs fits the profile of a press-man corner with a passion for hunting the football.\u201d<\/p>\n

Diggs\u2019 high-level instincts and anticipatory chops helped him emerge as one of the premier cornerbacks in the NFL in the early 2020s. Recording 11 interceptions in a 17-game season is a significant accomplishment (2021-22), and although things have gone downhill for Diggs since then, it\u2019s worth the Commanders giving him a shot on a one-year deal.<\/p>\n

Until then, Diggs will remain one of the most captivating CB free agents on the market.<\/p>\n
