Each NFL team is allowed a maximum of 90 players under contract on its offseason roster. The Dallas Cowboys just signed OL DJ Wingfield as an undrafted free agent, bringing them to exactly 90 players under contract on their roster right now – assuming Malachi Lawrence eventually signs his rookie contract.<\/p>\n
But even though they\u2019ve maxed out at 90 players, the roster will continue to change over the coming weeks and months, as every single new signing will have to be accompanied by a corresponding player being released who is currently on the roster.<\/p>\n

One interesting dynamic highlighted by the table above: With 48 players returning to the roster from 2025 (on the left side of the table) and 41 new players added to the roster (on the right side of the table) basically every new addition to the team will have to beat out a returning player for a roster spot on the final 53.<\/p>\n
