Last year, when the Minnesota Vikings<\/a> needed summer cornerback depth, some argued that the club should sign veteran Rasul Douglas<\/a>. Fast forward to May 2026, and that\u2019s happening once again \u2014 the same guy.<\/p>\n

Minnesota\u2019s CB room looks deeper than last year, but one more veteran would still make sense.<\/p>\n

Douglas remains a free agent<\/a>, and if he sounds familiar, it\u2019s because he spent time with the Green Bay Packers<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Do the Vikings really need another cornerback?<\/p>\n

Pro Football Network: Vikings Should Sign Douglas<\/p>\n

PFSN\u2019s Jacob Infante outlined the league\u2019s Top 25 free agents, with Douglas checking in at No. 10.<\/p>\n

He explained Douglas\u2019 availability and connected him to the Vikings<\/a>, \u201cThe Dolphins needed a stopgap starting option at cornerback last year, and Rasul Douglas filled that role admirably. He had two interceptions and ranked No. 15 in the league in PFSN\u2019s CB Impact Scoring at 84.3.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019ll be 31 in August, so he\u2019s hardly a long-term solution for any team, but he should get the chance to battle for a starting role. 2026 Predicted Team: Minnesota Vikings.\u201d<\/p>\n

In 2025, Minnesota ended up rolling with Jeff Okudah<\/a> at CB3 after many fans\u2019 requests to sign a guy like Douglas. Okudah later struggled and suffered a season-ending injury after six underwhelming games.<\/p>\n

The Philadelphia Eagles drafted Douglas in Round 3 of the 2017 NFL Draft, the same day the Vikings picked running back Dalvin Cook<\/a>. Since then, he\u2019s forged a career with 135 games, including 93 starts and 21 interceptions.<\/p>\n

\u201cDouglas has long been linked with the Chargers, dating back to his stint with the Green Bay Packers, where he solidified himself as one of the better cornerbacks in the entire NFL. Midway through 2023, he was traded to the Buffalo Bills, where he continued his prowess as a veteran DB who can learn a new system and thrive.\u201d<\/p>\n

Eight times in his career, Douglas has faced the Vikings as an opponent.<\/p>\n

Gosney added about the Chargers angle, \u201cDouglas seems like an outlier (due to his playstyle and multiple years on different teams) and would play the same snaps seen from St-Juste the year before. The Chargers coaching staff knows how to get the best out of players, as seen by St-Juste\u2019s career resurgence in 2025. Why not Douglas as well?\u201d<\/p>\n

Minnesota\u2019s Current CBs<\/p>\n

While the Douglas free-agent idea is intriguing, the Vikings are actually in a better spot than last year at this time, mainly because they signed veteran James Pierre<\/a> in March and drafted Stephen F. Austin\u2019s Charles Demmings in April.<\/p>\n

Other Free Agents to Consider<\/p>\n

Of course, Minnesota could still enhance the roster by filling out other positions. The WR3 hole on the depth chart is particularly glaring, making a player like Deebo Samuel<\/a>, Brandon Aiyuk<\/a> (trade), Jauan Jennings<\/a>, Tyreek Hill<\/a>, Stefon Diggs<\/a>, Keenan Allen<\/a>, or DeAndre Hopkins<\/a> look attractive.<\/p>\n

The Vikings could also use a third outside linebacker after trading Jonathan Greenard<\/a> two and a half weeks ago. Players like Jadeveon Clowney<\/a>, Joey Bosa<\/a>, Leonard Floyd<\/a>, and A.J. Epenesa<\/a> are eagerly awaiting free-agent phone calls.<\/p>\n
