Who will be the top rookie performer for the New York Giants<\/a> in 2026?<\/p>\n

Sports Illustrated’s Daniel Flick<\/a> predicts that Giants linebacker Arvell Reese will outperform all of his rookie teammates next season.<\/p>\n

The Giants have no shortage of talented pass rushers, and Reese should see snaps off the edge in some capacity. But he also projects as an immediate game-wrecker in the middle of New York\u2019s defense. Reese has the draft\u2019s best blend of speed and physicality, and he\u2019s a rangy defender with quality hands and technique at the point of attack. No matter where the Giants play him, Reese will find ways to make plays.<\/p>\n

Reese is expected to start at inside linebacker for the Giants in 2026, playing alongside Tremaine Edmunds<\/a>. The Ohio native possesses the speed, explosiveness, and range to excel against the run while also covering receivers effectively in the intermediate passing game. Those traits should give the Giants\u2019 defense a significant boost.<\/p>\n

Reese recorded 6.5 sacks and 10 tackles for loss in 2025 at Ohio State.<\/p>\n

The Giants selected several other talented rookies in the 2026 NFL draft. Francis Mauigoa has the potential to further elevate an offensive line that is already on an upward trajectory. Malachi Fields<\/a> could produce meaningfully as the Giants\u2019 No. 3 wide receiver. Colton Hood was one of the most heralded cornerbacks in this year\u2019s draft class, but he will face competition in a crowded secondary.
