Earlier this week, the Packers Coordinators spoke to the media. Even Jonathan Gannon<\/a> spoke roughly three months since he was hired! All jokes aside, the press conference gave Packer fans a little more insight into who Gannon and new Special Teams Coordinator, Cam Achord, are and what their scheme will look like. However, the Packers Offensive Coordinator might have delivered the juiciest line of the press conference.<\/p>\n

Adam Stenavich, who has been the Packers Offensive Coordinator since 2022, told the media that he expects second year WR Matthew Golden<\/a> to have a big year. The Packers offseason roster construction certainly backs Stenavich\u2019s claim here. Green Bay let Romeo Doubs walk in free agency. They traded Dontayvion Wicks to the Eagles and the team did not select a wide receiver in the NFL Draft. Green Bay is clearing the way for Matthew Golden.<\/p>\n

Christian Watson exploded onto the scene once he returned from his ACL injury last season. Jayden Reed is a driven slot receiver who can be explosive with the ball in his hands. Reed recently signed an extension and many believe that it is only a matter of time before Green Bay extends Watson. However, Matthew Golden has the highest upside of anyone in the wide receiver. Although, he did not immediately pop during his rookie season, there were certainly encouraging signs.<\/p>\n

The Packers Need to Get Golden the Football<\/p>\n

Matthew Golden is a receiver that can do a little bit of everything. Golden is a crisp route runner that can make a cornerback spin around and get lost. He can consistently catch the football. He can run away from people. Golden can make contested catches. He can make tacklers miss and he can even break tackles. His rookie season can be chalked up to an overcrowded wide receiver room and tough injury luck but the skillset is there.<\/p>\n

LaFleur and Stenavich certainly leaned on Doubs and Watson last season. Rightfully so, given their experience and understanding of the offense. Golden\u2019s youthfulness played a part in his lack of targets but now that he has a full season under his belt and his halfway through his first official offseason, he can certainly become a reliable piece to the offense. it seems that the 2026 season is the first one in a while where the receivers and tight ends are each an unique puzzle piece that completely connects the puzzle.<\/p>\n

Watson\u2019s speed gives the Packers an \u201cover the top\u201d player. Reed\u2019s ability to play in the slot and run after the catch adds versatility to the offense. Tucker Kraft is a do it all tight end and even Savion Williams can be a swish army knife for the Packers. But\u2026 Golden is a player the Packers can use in all facets of the game \u2013 the down field passing game, the screen game, the middle of the field, and even an one on one, jump ball scenario. Golden can take the Packers offense to the next level if he can develop as the Packers hope and want.<\/p>\n
