Denver Broncos<\/a> quarterback Bo Nix<\/a> is set to take part in June’s minicamp as a limited participant and should be “full speed” when training camp opens in July, according to head coach Sean Payton.<\/p>\n

“There\u2019s a good chance we see him in this offseason program in June,” Payton said Saturday during the team\u2019s rookie minicamp<\/a>. “We\u2019re going to be the ones kind of holding back, if you will. \u2026 We feel real good about where he\u2019s at.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou guys will have a chance to see it here in a few weeks. Clearly full speed by training camp. We just want to be smart relative about holding him back a little [during OTAs and minicamp].\u201d<\/p>\n

Nix fractured his right ankle during the Broncos’ AFC divisional round<\/a> win over the Buffalo Bills<\/a>. He underwent a second procedure on the ankle just before last month’s NFL Draft, which Payton said “was not a surprise.\u201d<\/p>\n

Payton said that Nix will be “well ahead” of his recovery time when training camp begins and the team will be cautious with the quarterback as he continues his recovery.<\/p>\n

“He’s going to want to push that earlier, but we’ll be smart,\u201d Payton added.<\/p>\n
