The Cleveland Browns are entering its first season under head coach Todd Monken after firing head coach Kevin Stefanski. At the top of Monken\u2019s priorities is determining who the starting quarterback will be.<\/p>\n
The most notable contenders for the starting job are veteran Deshaun Watson<\/a> and second-year arm Shedeur Sanders<\/a>. However, another lesser-known name has joined the Cleveland QB room and is getting some reps under his belt in the 182nd overall pick of the 2026 draft, Taylen Green.<\/p>\n Advertisement<\/p>\n Monken was very excited about what he saw from the young quarterback in Cleveland\u2019s rookie minicamp.<\/p>\n \u201cWell, I was lucky enough to get Lamar a lot later in his career, so let\u2019s not \u2026 We did some things with Lamar, but he was already further along,\u201d Monken said, per The Spun.<\/a> \u201cBut you can see that with Tay. You can see from when he was at Boise to then getting with Bobby Petrino and the guys at Arkansas, he\u2019s come a long way.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cYou can see that already and there\u2019s still a next jump that he can make. \u2026 You\u2019re not going to see as much of him because of the numbers, but I\u2019m excited. I\u2019m excited for him. He\u2019s a great kid and everything we\u2019ve heard about him so far has been true.\u201d<\/p>\n For his part, Green doesn\u2019t feel any other quarterbacks really compare to his skillset.<\/p>\n Advertisement<\/p>\n \u201cTo be honest, no,\u201d Green said\u00a0 per MArky KAy Cabot.<\/a>\u00a0\u201cI would say of course Lamar [Jackson], but he ain\u2019t 6\u20326\u2033.\u00a0Josh Allen<\/a>\u00a0is close, but I\u2019m 230. He\u2019s like 260. My dad says Randall Cunningham-ish. I really don\u2019t think there\u2019s anybody like me. Not in a like cocky [way] or anything, just some confidence.
