After just one season with the Houston Texans<\/a>, former Iowa<\/a> football tight end Luke Lachey has been claimed off waivers by the Green Bay Packers<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Lachey, a 2025 7th-round selection (No. 255 overall) by the Texans<\/a>, was waived on August 26, 2025, as part of final roster cuts and re-signed to the practice squad, where he spent the entire 2025 season.<\/p>\n

During his Hawkeyes career, the 6-foot-6, 251-pounder recorded 74 receptions for 893 yards and four touchdowns in his 24 starts across 42 games played from 2020-24. Lachey served as one of Iowa<\/a>‘s permanent team captains during his senior year in the 2024-25 season.<\/p>\n

The Packers<\/a> have been searching for depth at tight end since the end of the 2026 NFL Draft, and Lachey will certainly give Green Bay a high-quality option. The former Hawkeye now joins a tight end group featuring the likes of Tucker Kraft, Luke Musgrave, Josh Whyle, Drake Dabney, Messiah Swinson, and undrafted rookie RJ Maryland.<\/p>\n
