{"id":891,"date":"2025-04-26T06:02:16","date_gmt":"2025-04-26T06:02:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/891\/"},"modified":"2025-04-26T06:02:16","modified_gmt":"2025-04-26T06:02:16","slug":"chargers-new-defensive-tackle-jamaree-caldwell","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/891\/","title":{"rendered":"Chargers New Defensive Tackle Jamaree Caldwell"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Chargers have added a mammoth man in the defensive trenches.<\/p>\n<p>The Bolts selected Oregon defensive tackle Jamaree Caldwell with the No. 86 overall pick in Round 3 of the 2025 NFL Draft, a move that gives the Chargers more beef up front.<\/p>\n<p>And if it wasn&#8217;t clear that Chargers General Manager Joe Hortiz and Chargers Head Coach Jm Harbaugh want to build their team from the inside out, this is just another shining example.<\/p>\n<p>The Chargers drafted offensive players (Omarion Hampton and Tre Harris) in Rounds 1 and 2 but went defense in Round 3.<\/p>\n<p>The opposite side of the ball was the priority this time around as Caldwell now has the chance to be a key player front for years to come.<\/p>\n<p>The Bolts defensive line room is currently solid, with Teair Tart, Da&#8217;Shawn Hand, Naquan Jones, Otito Ogbonnia and others making up a well-constructed room.<\/p>\n<p>Caldwell, who was ESPN&#8217;s Jordan Reid&#8217;s No. 89 overall player, can slot into that rotation, too.<\/p>\n<p>He is 6-foot-2 and 332 pounds and played in community college before transferring to Houston for two seasons.<\/p>\n<p>Caldwell then went to Oregon, where he was an Honorable Mention All-Big Ten selection after posting 29 tackles with 4.5 tackles, three pass breakups and a forced fumble in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>And as long as Hortiz and Harbaugh are around, the Bolts will continue to invest in the trenches on both sides of the ball.<\/p>\n<p>Round 3 was another example of that.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The Chargers have added a mammoth man in the defensive trenches.
