May 14, 2026<\/a><\/p>\nFerrin, a BYU product, spent three seasons with the Cougars. All of which produced a different result. In 2023, he was unimpressive, missing an extra point and converting just 11 of 14 field-goal attempts (78.6%).<\/p>\n
Two seasons ago, in 2024, though, was a breakout year for the Utah native. He hit 24 of his 27 FG attempts (88.9%) while drilling four of his five attempts from beyond 50 yards.<\/p>\n
During the 2025 season, however, his production declined. While hitting all 49 of his extra point tries, he missed seven of his 30 field goal attempts (76.7%). From 40-49 yards is where he struggled most, missing five of seven attempts.<\/p>\n
Now, the Jets have two kickers rostered: Cade York and Lenny Krieg.<\/p>\n
York has appeared in 23 NFL games; however, consistency has been the primary issue for the former fourth-round pick. Since entering the NFL, he\u2019s bounced around, spending time with six different teams. <\/p>\n
His career field goal percentage is just 73.3%, and he has missed four kicks from within 40 yards.<\/p>\n
Krieg, 23, is a fascinating option. Born in Germany, he entered the NFL through the league\u2019s International Pathway Program. <\/p>\n
While he has yet to appear in a regular-season game, he hit all 14 kicks at the NFL\u2019s Scouting Combine last year, along with a 57-yarder in a preseason game with the Atlanta Falcons.<\/p>\n
If Krieg or York is struggling over the summer, there is always the option to add a veteran, as the Jets did last year with Nick Folk, who signed with the team in July.<\/p>\n
Top veteran options who are currently available include Matt Prater, Daniel Carlson, and Brandon McManus.<\/p>\n
While it remains unclear who the Jets\u2019 starting kicker will be to open the 2026 season, it won\u2019t be Ferrin.<\/p>\n
