FRISCO \u2013 DeMarvion Overshown said he\u2019s ahead of schedule in his rehab from a serious knee injury where surgeons repaired three ligaments in his right knee<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s the second consecutive year Overshown spent time in the offseason doing rehab work. But as usual, the Cowboys<\/a> linebacker, a third-round pick from Texas<\/a>, is optimistic about his return.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can do anything and everything,\u201d Overshown said Thursday. \u201cBut Britt (Brown, the Director of Rehabilitation) dials it down. I started doing a little light jog this week, so that\u2019s a plus. I\u2019m shuffling, backpedaling, doing all the small things at the beginning of the (rehab) stages. I\u2019m building into it. I can do just about everything.\u201d<\/p>\n

In 2023, his rookie season, Overshown torn the ACL in his left knee during a preseason game and missed the year. He returned in 2024, playing in 13 games before suffering an injury late in a game against the Bengals. Overshown tore the ACL, MCL and PCL in his right knee. It was a devastating injury for Overshown, who was the Cowboys\u2019 second-leading tackler at the time of the injury.<\/p>\n

Overshown said the goal is to return for the Thanksgiving Day game against Kansas City on Nov. 27. That\u2019s Week 13 of the season.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s definitely realistic,\u201d he said. \u201cI\u2019m pretty sure that game is Week 13, oh come on now. It\u2019s hard to speak on. I\u2019m thinking doing it the smart way, maybe start (training camp) on PUP, maybe not, if I\u2019m feeling great. I\u2019m going to let Britt, the magic man, do the work. I\u2019m just going to come up here grind like I\u2019m playing tomorrow. So best believe, I\u2019m working as if I\u2019m suiting up tomorrow.\u201d<\/p>\n

In two seasons, Overshown has played in just 13 of 34 games due to health issues. He enters Year 3, most likely missing at least the first two months of the NFL season, and while his talent isn\u2019t questioned, his health is.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201cEvery opportunity (you) got to play on the field, I showed people what I can do, if that\u2019s still a question, to some people, then I just say turn on the tape,\u201d he said. \u201cOf course I wanna play a full healthy year. I wanna be healthy that\u2019s what\u2019s best for my team and I know is best for my career.\u201d<\/p>\n
