Nothing about Pat McAfee\u2019s Game 4 theatrics at the Eastern Conference Finals \u201cHurt So Good\u201d for John Mellencamp.<\/p>\n
The Indiana music legend admitted he was embarrassed by McAfee\u2019s antics<\/a>, hinting that it didn\u2019t exactly scream \u201cSmall Town\u201d vibes. Tasked with firing up the Indiana crowd during Game 4 between the Pacers and Knicks, McAfee grabbed a live mic and went full WWE, calling out celebrity Knicks fans like Spike Lee, Ben Stiller, and Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet and urging the home crowd to send them back to New York with their ears bleeding.<\/p>\n While McAfee was out there riling up the Indiana faithful like he was \u201cCrumblin\u2019 Down,\u201d Mellencamp probably just wanted to \u201cWalk Tall\u201d past the whole scene and \u201cCheck It Out\u201d from a safe distance.<\/p>\n The crowd ate it up. Mellencamp didn\u2019t.<\/p>\n \u201cThe Knicks\/Pacers games have been very entertaining for anyone who likes basketball or sports,\u201d he posted on X in a statement that looked like it was made in Microsoft Paint. \u201cI attended Game 4 in Indianapolis. \u2018Hoosier Hospitality\u2019\u2026 I was embarrassed when somebody under whose direction I don\u2019t know called out some of the people who had made the trip from New York to support their team \u2013 and in turn, support our team. The audience booed these people.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019d say that was not Hoosier Hospitality. One could say it\u2019s poor, poor sportsmanship. I was not proud to be a Hoosier, and I lived here my entire life. On behalf of most Hoosiers, I would like to apologize for our poor behavior.
