Washington Commanders<\/a>‘ first-round pick Sonny Styles<\/a> quickly revealed he’d be wearing a traditional linebacker number in the NFL after being drafted. Styles, who wore No. 6 at Ohio State before wearing the “Block 0” jersey in 2025, will don the No. 52 for the burgundy and gold.<\/p>\n

“I’m not really a big number guy,” Styles said<\/a>. “I wasn’t really big into single digits. I like zero. Mikey has zero. So, then I was telling Coach [LB coach Ken] Norton, like when I look in the room, you got [Former Washington LB] London [Fletcher] on the wall, [Former Washington LB] LaVar [Arrington], I think it was [Former Washington LB] Ken Harvey and [Former Washington LB] Monte Coleman. It was all 50 numbers, and I was like, ‘Shoot, I’m going to pick a 50 number.'”<\/p>\n

This weekend, Styles, along with third-round pick wide receiver Antonio Williams<\/a>, was in Los Angeles<\/a> for the 2026 NFLPA Rookie Premiere. That meant we’d see Styles in the burgundy and gold No. 52 for the first time.<\/p>\n

Styles is expected to start immediately for Washington’s new-look defense. Williams could open as the Commanders’ slot receiver this summer, a role many believe he’ll thrive in. Washington GM Adam Peters also believes that Williams can be a starter on the outside, too.<\/p>\n

The next step for Washington’s rookies is Organized Team Activities (OTAs), which begin on May 27.<\/p>\n
