Indianapolis Colts’<\/a> pass game coordinator and secondary coach Chris Hewitt will take part in the NFL’s accelerator program during the NFL owners meetings on May 18 and 19,\u00a0according to ESPN<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Hewitt is one of 16 coaches selected to participate in this event, which features up-and-coming coaching candidates. There are 18 executives taking part in this program as well.<\/p>\n

Other coaches who are taking part include Mike McDaniel, Eric Bieniemy, Nate Scheelhaase, Josh McCown<\/a>, Aden Durde, and Darren Rizzi, among others.<\/p>\n

Jeremy Fowler wrote that the NFL received 60-plus nominations to participate in this year’s accelerator program.<\/p>\n

The 2025 season will be Hewitt’s second with the Colts<\/a>. The 14 interceptions generated by the Colts were the 10th most<\/a> in football.<\/p>\n

Before joining the Colts, Hewitt had been in the\u00a0Baltimore Ravens<\/a>\u2019 organization since 2012 and held various roles during that span, working with the defensive backs.<\/p>\n

The Baltimore secondaries, and the defense as a whole, have often been one of the better-performing units in the NFL.<\/p>\n

Hewitt has experience working in a variety of different schemes as well.<\/p>\n

This year, the Colts’ cornerback unit will be led by Sauce Gardner<\/a> and Charvarius Ward<\/a>, with Justin Walley<\/a> presumably taking over at the nickel. At safety is Cam Bynum, while several others will compete for the starting spot next to him, including third-round pick AJ Haulcy.<\/p>\n
