Coming off a magical 2025 season, where the Seattle Seahawks<\/a> dominantly won Super Bowl 60, the defending champions face the New England Patriots<\/a> in Week 1 of 2026 for a Super Bowl rematch.<\/p>\n

It’s a fun way to begin the season, though they are playing on a Wednesday for a slightly odd start to the 2026 season.<\/p>\n

ESPN’s Brady Henderson<\/a> is predicting that the Seahawks’ start to the 2026 season will be a great one, as their Week 1 matchup against the Patriots is another two-plus-score game.<\/p>\n

“Seattle will beat New England<\/a> by at least two scores again,” Henderson predicts. “… It’s a new season, of course, but what makes anyone believe this game will be any more competitive at Lumen Field, where the Seahawks have rediscovered their home-field advantage?<\/p>\n

The Seahawks beating the Patriots in Week 1 with a two-score blowout would be a brutally embarrassing result for New England coming into the 2026 season. And yet, it’s a very realistic outcome for Game 1 of the 2026 NFL season.<\/p>\n

Seahawks predicted to embarrass Patriots in Week 1<\/p>\n

With the Patriots making the trip over to Seattle for Week 1 in a Super Bowl 60 rematch, there will be plenty of anticipation for how this matchup will go.<\/p>\n

For the Patriots, there will be a few significant changes. They signed Romeo Doubs<\/a> in free agency, AJ Brown<\/a> is likely to come over in a trade from the Philadelphia Eagles<\/a>, Alijah Vera-Tucker is an upgrade at left guard, and Jared Wilson<\/a> moves to center.<\/p>\n

The offense for New England struggled against the Seahawks’ elite defense, and while Boye Mafe<\/a>, Coby Bryant<\/a>, and Riq Woolen<\/a> are gone, the current Seahawks defense is still more than good enough to dominate the Patriots’ offense.<\/p>\n

Henderson is predicting the Patriots will get blown out again, which would not be a huge surprise. The rosters are fairly similar, and the Seahawks get home-field advantage.<\/p>\n

Add in the massive vibes difference since the Super Bowl between the two franchises, and this prediction, which would be an embarrassing result for New England, doesn’t seem that far-fetched.<\/p>\n
