{"id":895623,"date":"2026-05-19T16:30:15","date_gmt":"2026-05-19T16:30:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/895623\/"},"modified":"2026-05-19T16:30:15","modified_gmt":"2026-05-19T16:30:15","slug":"clemson-football-d-tackle-to-miss-2026-for-cancer-treatment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/895623\/","title":{"rendered":"Clemson football: D-tackle to miss 2026 for cancer treatment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>CLEMSON \u2014 Clemson defensive tackle <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/clemsontigers.com\/sports\/football\/roster\/player\/hevin-brown-shuler\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Hevin Brown-Shuler<\/a> will miss the 2026 season following a diagnosis of <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mayoclinic.org\/diseases-conditions\/hodgkins-lymphoma\/symptoms-causes\/syc-20352646\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Hodgkin lymphoma<\/a>, the football program announced on May 19.<\/p>\n<p>Brown-Shuler recently had a mass discovered in his chest by doctors but the rising redshirt sophomore said in a statement that his prognosis is \u201cvery good.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am approaching this challenge with optimism and determination,\u201d Brown-Shuler said, adding that he\u2019s been \u201cconnected with outstanding doctors\u201d and has received \u201cexceptional\u201d medical care.<\/p>\n<p>The 6-foot-3, 315-pound native of Atlanta has appeared in seven games in his first two seasons, logging six career tackles.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know there is a long journey ahead, but I am encouraged by the outlook and surrounded by tremendous support from family, friends, teammates and my communities,\u201d Brown-Shuler said. \u201cThank you for your continued kindness and support. I can\u2019t wait to run down that hill and touch <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/clemsontigers.com\/howards-rock\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Howard\u2019s Rock<\/a> again for the 2027 football season.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/clemsontigers.com\/staff\/dabo\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Dabo Swinney<\/a> also released a statement on Brown-Shuler\u2019s diagnosis: \u201cThe Clemson Family and the entire college football world are with Hevin as he begins treatment this month. As a program, we\u2019ll wrap our arms around him and his family as he steps away from football temporarily to focus on his health.
