Rice is in custody to serve his jail time, from May 19 to June 16, 2026, according to the criminal trial docket. This overlaps with both Chiefs’ voluntary OTA sessions (May 26-29 and June 1-3) and the mandatory minicamp (June 9-11).

Rice was initially ordered to serve 30 days in jail as part of his guilty plea to two third-degree felony charges. Now, the court has scheduled these 30 days specifically from May 19 to June 16, removing his discretion. He will not need to serve an additional 30-day jail sentence afterward.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Rice recently underwent a cleanup procedure on his right knee to remove loose debris. This was in the same knee he had surgery on for his ACL injury. This clean-up surgery is expected to sideline him for two months. It appears that the surgery was going to cause him to miss OTAs and mandatory minicamp anyway, so he’s getting the jail time out of the way.

One week before being ordered to serve 30 days in jail, Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice underwent a clean-up surgery on his right knee to remove loose debris that was causing inflammation and now is expected to sideline him two months, league sources told ESPN. pic.twitter.com/d974eNNNSp

— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) May 19, 2026

If everything stays the same, this would still allow Rice to be available for training camp.

The Chiefs will have reps open for young WRs to step up during OTAs and mandatory minicamp

Everyone is now looking at the young guys in the WR room. Now there are more reps to go around in OTAs and minicamp. Guys like Jalen Royals, Cyrus Allen, and even Jeff Caldwell are going to have an opportunity to really show what they can do. Others, like Nikko Remigio and Jason Brownlee, will have an opportunity to show they can play a bigger role than they previously did.

The Chiefs may not have the best receiver room, and many wanted it addressed better during the draft. However, this is an opportunity for them to get a better look at what they are really working with.

Kansas City Chiefs News

Kansas City Chiefs’ interactive easter egg takes NFL schedule release video to the next level

Nobody is doing their NFL Schedule Release quite like the Kansas City Chiefs just did with their video.

The Kansas City Chiefs have another situation on their hands with wide receiver Rashee Rice, and it’s got…

[2063
346,7,51008,118,110,2438,2437,6,4000,12654
post-895911","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-kansas-city-chiefs","tag-chiefs","tag-football","tag-jail","tag-kansas-city","tag-kansas-city-chiefs","tag-kansascity","tag-kansascitychiefs","tag-nfl","tag-rashee-rice","tag-surgery
["GET
