Urban Meyer<\/a>‘s coaching days appear to be over, but he’s still finding ways to be a trending topic in the football world.<\/p>\n

The Associated Press reported this week that Meyer lost his multi-million arbitration case against the NFL<\/a>. He filed a grievance over him being fired “with cause” by the Jacksonville Jaguars<\/a> in 2021.<\/p>\n

Meyer was fired in the middle of his first season with the Jaguars. Not only did he stumble out of the gates with a 2-11 record, he was accused of kicking Josh Lambo<\/a>‘s leg while he was getting ready for a preseason game. Despite his shortcomings, he thought an argument could be made that he was fired without cause. Clearly, the legal outcome for this case begs to differ.<\/p>\n

The ruling for this arbitration case, which On3 claims was settled in 2025, has saved the Jaguars roughly $30 million.<\/p>\n

Unsurprisingly, NFL fans don’t feel bad for Meyer.<\/p>\n

“Went 2-11 and abused his players. Good, he deserves it,” one fan said.”<\/p>\n

“This man assaulted a player and thought he was gonna get compensated,” a second fan wrote. “The ego on this guy is unmatched.”<\/p>\n

“Urban should be forced to pay the Jags $30 million because he was so terrible,” another fan suggested.<\/p>\n

“Sometimes I can\u2019t remember if Urban Meyer was really once our head coach or if I was just really drunk,” a Jaguars fan commented.<\/p>\n

Better off without Urban.<\/p>\n

The Urban Meyer era for the Jaguars was truly a catastrophe, but at least they’ve found their coach in Liam Coen.<\/p>\n

Although the hire was risky due to Coen’s lack of head coaching experience, he led Jacksonville to a 13-4 record and AFC South<\/a> title in 2025.<\/p>\n

The Jaguars are hoping Coen will lift them to a deep playoff run next season.<\/p>\n
