Philadelphia Eagles fans are eagerly awaiting an A.J. Brown trade<\/a>, with June 1 as the key date to watch, but a new warning suggests it could take a while to get done.<\/p>\n

The most likely scenario is that Brown gets traded to the New England Patriots to be reunited with his former head coach, Mike Vrabel, with the Eagles waiting until after June 1 for the trade to happen so the dead cap is cut in half and they save $7 million. NFL insider Ian Rapoport<\/a> warned fans that the timeline might not align with what everyone expects.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs far as the actual trade, though, we’re all waiting for June 1 to happen so the cap hit is in half for the Eagles and they can trade him. I just don’t know if it’s going to be snap your fingers and the deal is done because the two sides is where they have been, which is the Eagles wanting a first-round pick in 2027. The Patriots, the most likely destination, we’ll see if someone else rises, not willing to give up a first-round pick as of right now. That means there’s not particularly close, and yeah, there\u2019s a chance this could drag on for the foreseeable future.\u201d<\/p>\n

Eagles trade with A.J. Brown might take a while apparently<\/p>\n

Most Eagles want this nightmare to end with Brown, as the drama and noise surrounding it have been annoying and overwhelming. The media has been fixated on a trade, and if Rapoport is right, it will continue beyond June 2.<\/p>\n

Eagles general manager Howie Roseman is right for holding out on a good deal, though, as Philly has to get a first-round pick for Brown. Over his career, Brown has been to the Pro Bowl three times and was a second-team All-Pro selection three times as well.<\/p>\n

This isn’t an ordinary wide receiver, as Brown is considered one of the best in the NFL despite having a down season last year with 1,003 yards and seven touchdowns. Brown is a franchise-altering playmaker who helped the Eagles make two Super Bowls and win one in his four years in Philly.<\/p>\n

A deal must get done, as the Eagles and Brown would benefit from a breakup happening. The longer this thing drags out, though, the more likely it is that no deal will get done, so the Eagles should make sure to get a deal struck quickly.<\/p>\n
