Several players who are not officially on the trade block could become much easier to move once the date arrives. The NFL’s June 1 designation allows teams to spread dead-cap charges over two years following a trade or release, creating additional financial flexibility.

All eyes will be on Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown. He remains one of the biggest names who could be moved shortly after June 1. Reports suggest the New England Patriots are currently the most likely suitor, but trade markets can change quickly.

MORE: 9 notable championship rematches in professional sports history

Beyond Brown, several notable players could become realistic trade candidates once teams gain additional cap flexibility. Here are a few potential trades to watch after the June 1 deadline passes:

Josh Sweat

Jan 4, 2026; Inglewood, California, USA; Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford (9) is sacked Arizona Cardinals linebacker Josh Sweat (10) during the first half at SoFi Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Jayne Kamin-Oncea-Imagn Images

Proposed Suitors: Chicago Bears, Dallas Cowboys

Sweat, like many players on this list, is far from a lock to be traded. However, after the NFL’s post-June 1, his 2026 dead-cap figure drops from roughly $27 million in accelerations and dead money to just $5 million. The Arizona Cardinals would also save approximately $10 million this season.

The Cowboys have quietly revamped their defense, and adding Sweat could elevate them into legitimate contender status. Dallas already possesses plenty of offensive firepower. A proven pass rusher like Sweat could provide the defensive boost needed to compete for a championship.

MORE: Denver Broncos strike massive $45.8M deal for future stadium project

The same argument applies to the Chicago Bears. Adding Sweat to an already-improving defense could help push Chicago over the hump and into NFC Championship contention.

Alvin Kamara

Sep 14, 2025; New Orleans, Louisiana, USA; New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara (41) runs against the San Francisco 49ers during the first half at Caesars Superdome. Mandatory Credit: Stephen Lew-Imagn Images

Proposed Suitors: Tennessee Titans, Jacksonville Jaguars

Kamara’s market remains difficult to gauge. However, he does not appear to be a central part of the New Orleans Saints’ long-term offensive plans. A post-June 1 trade would reduce a massive $31 million dead-cap and acceleration hit to roughly $7 million while creating additional savings in 2026.

The Jacksonville Jaguars could benefit from adding a proven veteran running back to complement 2026 acquisition Chris Rodriguez Jr. Kamara’s versatility as both a runner and receiver would make him a strong fit in Jacksonville’s offense.

MORE: Ty Simpson getting most benefit from Matthew Stafford’s early load management

The Tennessee Titans have continued building around quarterback Cam Ward. Pairing Kamara with Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears would give Tennessee one of the league’s deepest backfields. Head coach Brian Daboll could also maximize Kamara’s versatility as a dynamic offensive weapon.

Anthony Richardson

Oct 5, 2025; Indianapolis, Indiana, USA; Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson (5) walks off the field after their win against the Las Vegas Raiders at Lucas Oil Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Trevor Ruszkowski-Imagn Images

Proposed Suitors: Green Bay Packers, Detroit Lions

Richardson has handled the situation professionally throughout the offseason. Despite ongoing trade speculation involving the Indianapolis Colts, he has remained engaged and participated in team activities. His character and leadership have consistently earned praise dating back to the 2023 NFL Draft process.

The Packers signed veteran quarterback Tyrod Taylor, but head coach Matt LaFleur may still have interest in developing a younger, high-upside project. Richardson remains an incredibly gifted athlete with tremendous physical tools, though he still requires refinement as a passer.

MORE: Detroit Lions have $100M decision to make on Jahmyr Gibbs soon

The Detroit Lions could also benefit from upgrading their backup quarterback situation. Dan Campbell and offensive coordinator Drew Petzing could potentially find creative ways to utilize Richardson’s unique skill set while allowing him to develop behind Jared Goff.

Brandon Aiyuk

Sep 29, 2024; Santa Clara, California, USA; San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk (11) celebrates after a catch against the New England Patriots during the first quarter at Levi’s Stadium. However, the San Francisco 49ers appear willing to wait and see if a team offers even a conditional late-round draft pick before making that decision.

MORE: J.J. The Cardinals added talent at the position through both the draft and free agency, potentially making Conner expendable at some point this season.

Following Josh Jacobs’ recent arrest, the Packers may need a contingency plan.
