Former Giants <\/a>quarterback Russell Wilson<\/a> is trading in his helmet for a seat in front of the camera.<\/p>\n

According to Front Office Sports reporter Ryan Glasspiegel<\/a>, Wilson is finalizing a deal to join CBS\u2019 \u201cThe NFL Today\u201d <\/a>pregame show. Wilson would join host James Brown, former NFL wide receiver Nate Burleson<\/a> and former Pittsburgh Steelers<\/a> head coach Bill Cowher<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The spot opened up after the Atlanta Falcons<\/a> hired Matt Ryan<\/a> as president of football operations.<\/p>\n

Wilson started three games for the Giants in 2025, losing all three, before former head coach Brian Daboll<\/a> benched him in favor of Jaxson Dart<\/a>. He appeared in six games last season, completing 58% of his passes for 831 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions.<\/p>\n

Wilson was drafted in the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft by the Seattle Seahawks<\/a>. In his 14 seasons in the NFL, Wilson was named to the Pro Bowl 10 times and won Super Bowl XLVIII in the 2013 season with the Seahawks. He also played for the Denver Broncos<\/a> and Pittsburgh Steelers before joining the Giants in 2025. Wilson was also named the Walter Payton Man of the Year in 2020.<\/p>\n

Wilson had been weighing whether to continue playing, telling the New York Post in May<\/a> that the Jets<\/a> had offered him a backup role behind Geno Smith<\/a>.<\/p>\n

NFL Network\u2019s Ian Rapoport<\/a> inferred that Wilson is done for now but could be open to returning to the NFL if an opportunity arises.<\/p>\n

\u201cWilson may not be retiring, but at least a pause on his playing career,\u201d Rapoport said.<\/p>\n
