The Buffalo Bills<\/a> have waived former Pittsburgh Steelers defensive back Daryl Porter Jr., according to the NFL transactions page for Monday, June 1.<\/p>\n

The Bills had signed Porter<\/a> to a reserve\/future contract on Jan. 6. The Steelers cut ties<\/a> with Porter on Dec. 29.<\/p>\n

Porter participating in one game for the Steelers as a rookie in 2025, as he was elevated to the active roster from the practice squad for the team\u2019s Week 16 game against the Detroit Lions<\/a>. He played three special teams snaps and one on defense.<\/p>\n

The Steelers signed veteran cornerback Tre Flowers<\/a> to the active roster a week before releasing Porter. They also elevated defensive back D\u2019Shawn Jamison<\/a> to the active roster from the practice squad for the team\u2019s Week 17 game against the Cleveland Browns<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Porter, 24, first signed with Buffalo as an UDFA after going un-selected in the 2025 NFL Draft<\/a>. He was waived by the Bills on July 28, 2025 and signed with the Steelers<\/a> on Aug. 4. In three preseason games, he played 87 snaps of defense and recorded six tackles.<\/p>\n

Porter began his collegiate career at West Virginia before transferring to Miami<\/a>. He was a two-year starter for the Hurricanes and, at the two stops, registered 108 tackles, 18 passes defended and an interception.<\/p>\n

Porter is the the son of former NFL safety Daryl Porter Sr., who had two stints with the Steelers amid a six-year NFL career. Porter Sr., who was the Steelers\u2019 sixth-round pick out of Boston College in the 1997 NFL Draft, never played in a regular-season game with the team and was best-known for his three-year run with the Bills from 1998-2000.<\/p>\n
