Former Seattle Seahawks<\/a> star quarterback Russell Wilson<\/a> called it a career on Wednesday as one of the most paid players in NFL history.<\/p>\n

According to Over the Cap\u2019s Jason Fitzgerald,<\/a> Wilson retired as the fifth-highest paid player in league history with total career earnings of $315.8 million.<\/p>\n

Wilson was only outearned by Los Angeles Rams<\/a> QB and AP NFL MVP Matthew Stafford<\/a> ($408.3M), Pittsburgh Steelers<\/a> star QB Aaron Rodgers<\/a> ($394.8M), former seven-time Super Bowl champion QB Tom Brady<\/a> ($332.9M) and Las Vegas Raiders<\/a> QB Kirk Cousins<\/a> ($321.6M).<\/p>\n

The 37-year-old Wilson earned every bit of his historic career earnings over the course of his 14-year career in the NFL. The Cincinnati<\/a> native won the Super Bowl at the end of the 2013 season as a second-year veteran in the league. Wilson earned a second-team All-Pro nod in 2019 and led the league in passing touchdowns in 2017 with 34.<\/p>\n

Wilson walked away from the game as one of only six players to cross the $300 million threshold in career earnings, a company that also includes former NFL MVP Matt Ryan<\/a>.<\/p>\n
