Pro Football Focus<\/a> put together their ranking of the top 32 offensive tackles coming into the 2025 NFL season, and both of the Indianapolis Colts’<\/a> tackles were on the list.<\/p>\n

Left tackle Bernhard Raimann came in at No. 10 on Zoltan Buday’s list, and Braden Smith was at No. 21.<\/p>\n

Last season, Raimann built upon an already strong performance in 2023 by ranking 24th out of 83 tackles in PFF’s pass blocking efficiency metric.<\/p>\n

As a run blocker, along with ranking 12th in\u00a0PFF’s run-blocking<\/a>\u00a0grade, running back Jonathan Taylor averaged nearly 5.0 yards per rush when running between Raimann and left guard Quenton Nelson.<\/p>\n

“Raimann might be the most underrated tackle in the NFL,” wrote Buday. “He was among the best left tackles in the league for the second straight season, and his 87.9 PFF overall grade over the past two seasons ranks seventh among all offensive tackles and fifth among left tackles.”<\/p>\n

Smith has provided the\u00a0Colts<\/a>\u00a0with a steady presence up front. During the 2023 and 2024 seasons, which have included 760 pass-blocking snaps, Smith has surrendered just four total sacks and four combined quarterback hits.<\/p>\n

He’s also routinely graded out as one of the better run-blockers at the tackle position based on\u00a0PFF’s metrics.<\/p>\n

There are some unknowns this season with the Colts’ offensive line unit as a whole with the relatively inexperienced Tanor Bortolini and Matt Goncalves <\/a>likely starting at center and guard, but around them, at tackle and left guard with Quenton Nelson, there is a lot of experience and high level play to help provide stability.<\/p>\n
