The Jameson Williams hype train is officially in overdrive. <\/p>\n

On Friday, before the Detroit Lions<\/a>\u2019 third practice of Organized Team Activities, coach Dan Campbell was asked about Williams\u2019 progress and expectations for the 2025 season, and he did not hold back. Here\u2019s the entirety of his answer: <\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s had a good spring, and it\u2019s another one, I don\u2019t want to get too far ahead of ourselves in OTAs, but there\u2019s so much versatility with him. There\u2019s so many things that we can do just with his routes on the outside. I mean, we can do things inside, but just with his speed, and he\u2019s gotten so much stronger. His ability to stop. Put his foot in the ground. Man, when you can run like he can run and now you\u2019re beginning to (get) where you can stop on a dime, you talk about a hard cover.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo the sky\u2019s the limit for him. He\u2019s exactly where we want him to be right now at this point. He\u2019s been here, he\u2019s grinding, he\u2019s getting better. Scottie (Montgomery, Lions WR coach) is freakin\u2019 grinding him. It\u2019s awesome. But we expect him to have a huge season. We really do, man. He\u2019s going to be one of these guys that we\u2019re going to lean on this year and is really going to be big for us. All he\u2019s got to do is just keep working like he\u2019s working, and we\u2019ll be good.\u201d <\/p>\n

There\u2019s a lot to cover there, from Williams\u2019 route tree clearly growing beyond the deep-field shots to the work the young receiver has put in this offseason. But the most potent point Campbell made is one that was echoed by offensive coordinator John Morton earlier this offseason: the Lions are expecting a massive season from Williams ahead.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s going to be a breakout year for him. So I can\u2019t wait, I just can\u2019t wait, man,\u201d Morton said a few weeks ago. <\/p>\n

Last year appeared to be Williams\u2019 breakout season. He hauled in 58 catches for 1,001 yards and seven receiving touchdowns\u2014on top of another 61 yards and a score on the ground.
