STUDENTS AND TEACHERS AT HARPER\u2019S CHOICE MIDDLE SCHOOL, PATIENTLY WAITING FOR A SURPRISE. THEY JUST LEARNED THEY\u2019D BE A PART OF. WE ARE HERE TODAY TO SURPRISE ONE OF YOUR TEACHERS. IT\u2019S ONE OF THEIR OWN TEACHERS, MISS EBONY DIXON RECEIVES THIS YEAR\u2019S TOUCHDOWN FOR TEACHERS AWARD FROM M AND T BANK AND THE BALTIMORE RAVENS. WE HAD A TEAM OF PEOPLE PICK THAT. AND IT WAS. THERE WAS REALLY STIFF COMPETITION THIS YEAR. AND SO EBONY DIXON JUST JUST BLEW THE COMPETITION AWAY. I HAVE HEARD THAT MISS DIXON IS A HUGE RAVENS FAN. SO WE ARE SO EXCITED FOR THIS SURPRISE AND REALLY FOR HER TO FEEL THE LOVE FROM HER STUDENTS AND HER COMMUNITY AND KNOW HOW MUCH SHE IS APPRECIATED. AND THEY HAD A LITTLE HELP FROM RAVENS, CHEERLEADERS AND RAVENS CORNERBACK CHIDOBE AWUZIE. AS THEY WELCOMED MISS DIXON TO HER OWN AWARD CEREMONY. ONE SHE HAD NO CLUE WAS HAPPENING. AND I JUST THOUGHT IT WAS SOMETHING ABOUT THE COMMUNITY. THAT\u2019S WHAT I THOUGHT. I\u2019M JUST BLESSED. AND WHEN I SAW MY FAMILY, I WAS ABOUT TO LOSE IT. SOME OF THEM HAVE NEVER BEEN TO THIS SCHOOL, SO I\u2019M JUST BLESSED TO SEE MY DAD SAY IT\u2019S FOR YOU. I JUST WANTED TO LOSE IT. SMILES, HUGS AND EXCITEMENT AS MISS DIXON SPOTTED FAMILY, FRIENDS AND STUDENTS AND LEARNED SHE WAS THIS YEAR\u2019S TOUCHDOWN FOR TEACHERS WINNER, RECEIVING A CUSTOM RAVENS JERSEY AND A $5,000 CHECK FOR HER SCHOOL IN HER NAME. IT\u2019S AN HONOR. MISS DIXON\u2019S SCHOOL COMMUNITY SAYS SHE DESERVES. SHE LEAVES AN AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM AT THE SCHOOL, LEAD SERVICE LEARNING PROGRAMS, AND GIVES STUDENTS A CHANCE FOR ENRICHMENT OPPORTUNITIES LIKE FORENSIC SCIENCE INVESTIGATIONS. \t\tEditorial Standards \u24d8<\/a><\/p>\n \n\t\t\t\t\t\tA Howard County teacher was surprised Friday with the 2026 Touchdown for Teachers Award.Ebony Dixon, a teacher at Harper’s Choice Middle School in Columbia, received the honor presented by M&T Bank and the Baltimore Ravens.Out of hundreds of teachers nominated across Maryland, Dixon was selected as this year’s winner. Her school community praised her for her dedication, noting her leadership in an after-school program, service learning initiatives and enrichment opportunities, like forensic science investigations.Dixon secured a $40,000 mobile STEM lab for students, organized more than 10,000 pairs of socks donations, and was selected to participate in a NASA program for science educators\u2014 all while pursuing her doctorate degree at Notre Dame of Maryland University.”We had a team of people pick, and it was really stiff competition this year, and so Ebony Dixon just blew the competition away,” said Matt Calhoun, executive vice president of retail banking at M&T Bank.”I have heard that Ms. Dixon is a huge Ravens fan, so we are so excited for the surprise and really for her to feel the love from her students and her community and know how much she is appreciated,” said Kelly Tallant, director of community relations for the Baltimore Ravens.Dixon’s family and friends joined students and teachers at the school for the surprise announcement, which included Ravens mascot Poe, cheerleaders and cornerback Chidobe Awuzie.”I just thought it was something about the community, that’s what I thought,” Dixon told WBAL-TV 11 News. “So, when I saw my family, I was about to lose it. Some of them have never been to this school, so I’m just blessed. And, to see my dad say, ‘It’s for you,’ I just wanted to lose it.”The award includes a custom Ravens jersey and a $5,000 check to the school in Dixon’s name.”I’m overwhelmed,” Dixon told WBAL-TV 11 News. “I’m overwhelmed. I don’t know how to feel. My family is here, and I want to dedicate it to my mom. My mom passed away Jan. 20, and I know she would be proud.”The Touchdown for Teachers program has honored educators annually for 13 years, recognizing their contributions to their schools and communities.
