PHOENIX (AZFamily) \u2014 New Arizona Cardinals head coach Mike LaFleur<\/a> is giving insight on what culture and play style he\u2019s looking to build in the desert as the upcoming NFL season is just months away. <\/p>\n

LaFleur says the team is focused on building a strong foundation during organized team activities as he enters his first season leading the franchise.<\/p>\n

LaFleur, who has been in Arizona for a few months<\/a>, said general manager Monti Ossenfort has assembled quality personnel throughout the organization.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat Monti has built here in terms of just the people. And not even just the players, but just this whole building,\u201d LaFleur said. \u201cYou can\u2019t do anything until you surround yourself with good people. And I think he\u2019s done that throughout this building, throughout the locker room.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Cardinals have held nine practices, with two more scheduled for next week during minicamp before the team breaks for the offseason.<\/p>\n

Offensive philosophy<\/p>\n

LaFleur described his offensive approach as \u201cthe illusion of complexity\u201d that blends run and pass concepts.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s that marriage of the run and pass where before that ball is snapped, like what are they going to do?\u201d LaFleur said. \u201cThat\u2019s what you\u2019re always striving to.\u201d<\/p>\n

The head coach said the team is emphasizing pre-snap operations and how players get to the line of scrimmage.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou can tell when a team is buttoned up and sharp,\u201d LaFleur said. \u201cEvery day right now, it\u2019s like, it\u2019s not good enough yet, guys. It\u2019s not good. And that\u2019s okay. I knew that, you know, it\u2019s a process there.\u201d<\/p>\n

LaFleur served as offensive coordinator for the Los Angeles Rams for three seasons before joining Arizona. He said the Cardinals offense will share foundational elements with the Rams, San Francisco 49ers and Green Bay Packers.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe all come from the same tree, if you will,\u201d LaFleur said. \u201cBut like all those other places, like Arizona, you\u2019ve got to fit it to what these players can do.\u201d<\/p>\n

Coaching staff<\/p>\n

Nathaniel Hackett joined the Cardinals as offensive coordinator. Hackett previously served as offensive coordinator during LaFleur\u2019s brother Matt\u2019s first three years with the Packers.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve known Hackett for a long time,\u201d LaFleur said. \u201cHe brings such a good spirit, not just for the offense, but just for the building, the coaching staff, everyone around. He is an awesome, awesome dude.\u201d<\/p>\n
